Doug, You pondered why the number of children appear on tax list. In 1821 Ky law required tax list to indicate # children ages 4-14 1840 this changed to age 7-17 Perhaps changed further in 1840's Best I can figure out, this was probably to determine the need for schools in each area. Barb
