    1. ELIZABETH DE FOSSET OR ELIZABETH BURKHART

    3. Dear Listers, We are looking for a woman by the name of either Elizabeth DE FOSSET or Elizabeth BURKHART, who died on 7 Nov 1910 in Maysville and she was buried on 9 Nov 1910 in Washington. Also, we do not know, if she was married or what her married name was. Where can we write for an obituary? Since we have her death date, maybe they can find her obit by looking for someone named Elizabeth, whose obit is in a newspaper near those dates. The 1910 Census for Mason County lists an Elizabeth HIEL living with a Harry BURK family. She is listed as the mother-in-law and she was 60 years old at that time. Our Elizabeth was born about 1848 in Bavaria in Germany. Her parents were supposedly, Caspar DE FOSSET and his first wife, Elisabetha SIEFERT. Also, she had a sister, Margreth, who was born in 1851 in the same place. It is possible that Elizabeth and Margreth may have been daughters of Sophia BURKHART, Caspar's second wife. Does anyone know anything about Elizabeth? Help, we are puzzled about this family, because there are many different names and facts to be waded through to find the truth. 3. A German named De Fosset just doesn't ring true to me. I might easily believe it if they originated in the Alsace Lorraine area, but Bavaria doesn't strike me as an area that had too many French sounding names in it. Have you run across any other spellings beside De Fosset? BURKHAR(D)T however sounds decidely German. Checking and digging into that Elizabeth HIEL on the 1910.... I see the daughter is Maud Burk - I noticed the Maud HILL birth records here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kymason/birthch1.html For obtaining and obit from 1910, I would suggest the Mason Co. Museum Library: http://www.masoncountymuseum.org/articles/home.asp Kathy Karla Nurnberg wrote: > > Dear Listers, > We are looking for a woman by the name of either Elizabeth DE FOSSET or Elizabeth BURKHART, who died on 7 Nov 1910 in Maysville and she was buried on 9 Nov 1910 in Washington. 3. DeFosse is a common surname in Ripley, Brown County, Ohio, across the bridge from Mason County, Kentucky. The DeFosse family is of Alsatian origin, as are many of the Gallensteins, Schumachers, etc. in this area. There is some confusion because these families often have connections in both Bavaria and Alsace-Lorraine. Kathy Hines <khines1@qwest.net> wrote:A German named De Fosset just doesn't ring true to me.
