JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON DONALD L. BOWEN FROM XENIA (OH) DAILY GAZETTE 10/16/06 Donald L. Bowen, 74, of Fairborn, oh passed away October 14, 2006 in the Miami Valley Hospital. He was born February 27, 1932 in Mason County, Ky., the son of the late Orville C. and Anna Mae (Cook) Bowen. Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1971 after 20 years of service and later returned to civil service duty as a marksmanship instructor at Wright-Patterson AFB. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Dignam Whitmore Post 526, Fairborn, where he served on the Honor Guard, as 2nd Vice Commander and chief cook for many years. Don was also a life member of Amvets Post 444 and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Wright Aerie No. 2641. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Refugia "Cuca" Bowen; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael L. and Kimberly Bowen, Jamey A. and Kathleen A. Bowen; step sons and their wives, Robert and Chris Blevins, Donald and Tammy Blevins; step-son, Tony Blevins; step-daughter and her husband, Rhoda and ! Jeff Averyard; sisters, Lucille Wallace, Jean Clayton and her husband Paul; brothers, Todd Bowen and wife Ora June, Harry Bowen and wife Rhonda, Larry Bowen and wife Nadine; as well as 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held on October 18, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn, with Post Everlasting service at 7:45 p.m. Funeral service will be on October 19, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, Pastor Mark R. McVey officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Dayton National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 526 Building Fund, 526 Legion Lane, Fairborn, OH 45324, in memory of Don.
