This is all very sketchy. William enlisted for the Rev War in Winchester, VA and served a year. He then married Grizzy Ann Bell from MA and he, Grizzy, John, and others lit out from what is now eastern WV to the now Maysville area of KY. Whether other family members came along or eventually followed no one knows. He and the others built a fort near Blanchard's Pond. Later on he and Corneilus Washburn crossed the Ohio R and built a log cabin at Logan's Gap, now Ripley, OH. The others eventually followed and he and Grizzy lived in what is now Adams/Brown County, Ohio until their deaths in the first third of the 18th Century. Grizzy 1 March 1825; William 10 January 1838. Their male children's names were John, Will Jr., Amos, Josiah, Thomas, James, and Harrison. Samuel is also listed as the last, but a debate exists whether he was a son! or a grandson. The daughters were Nancy (Hawk), Hannah (Robbins), and Elizabeth (Mann). Do any of these names ring a bell? Over the years the surname switched back and fortbetween Dixson and Dixon, finally settling on Dixon. George
