    3. There are a few Hollands buried in St Patrick's Cemetery in Maysville, but I don't know their given names. As for Dotson, I've not heard the name in Lewis County, and I work in Lewis County. I have always associated the Dotson family with Nicholas and Robertson Counties, both of which, in part, were carved out of what once was the original Mason County. glkail@netscape.net wrote: i was wanting the info i emailed abt i have been to mason and lewis co many times and still hav e relations there but no one knows abt george holland or his wife alice dotson death or burail thanks for your time barbara -----Original Message----- From: ben hawkins To: KYMASON-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, 7 Nov 2005 04:54:24 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: [KYMASON-L] holland dotson There are still quite a few Dotsons/Dodsons in this area, especially out around Sardis in Mason County, and Ellisville in Nicholas County. 3. Have not heard of either name in this area, so their family must have moved on from here. In this area you will find McKinneys, Purdons, and Purdins, but no Purdums or McAtinneys. Sorry, but I shall keep alert in case either name turns up. Of course, what was Mason County in 1800 now covers about 10,12, or more counties, today, so they have been in what are now several other counties in northeastern Kentucky. patbo@adelphia.net wrote:This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. 3. Correction : Herbert Moford 3868 KY 435 DOVER, KY 41034 606-883-3188 Fern Leaf is neither incorporated, nor does it have a post office. 41034 is the Dover post office. Minerva is on the Dover postal delivery route. There's a Minerva post office, but it doesn't deliver, you have to have a P O Box. 3. Thanks. I remember the Mofords well, really nice folks. They were very active in Jim Bunning's unsuccessful run for Governor in 1983. Seems I remember that Herb was quite a fine baseball player when he was younger. Of course, I remember their daughter Mindy's tragic death in the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire, as well. You're right, Martha Moford would be the ideal person to contact. Herb Moford is listed in all the Maysville area phone directories. hillealogy@earthlink.net wrote:This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. 3. There may or may not be a Minerva Methodist Church still in existence. There being no phone number listed really doesn't prove anything, since it would be highly unlikely that the church would have a telephone. Many of the small rural Methodist parishes in Mason County share pastors, and are more or less unoccupied except on Sundays and Wednesday evenings. Sometimes they even have joint services at alternating churches. So, without knowing the name of the pastor or some other contact person, getting info about the church in question might be difficult. Here are a couple of suggestions : you might try contacting the nearby Germantown Methodist Church parsonage at 606-883-3349. This pastor would know if the Minerva Church still exists, and would most likely know who the pastor is ( it might even be him/her). Another option would be to contact Mrs. Jane Finn at 606-883-3474. She's more or less an institution in the Minerva community, and she's a well-known Methodist lay! woman. I don't know if there's a Methodist parish at Minerva, but if there is, she'd either be a member of it, or at least be aware of it. khines1@qwest.net wrote:This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
