    3. Hello, I have never participated in the KYMASON-L site but I am writing to say that I have McDowells. Was his father Col. Samuel McDowell and his mother Martha McClung? I have Col. McDowell dying in Danville, KY in 1817 and Martha was from Ireland and died in Shawnee Springs, Mercer Co. KY. in 1827 Do write if these people are related. I have them going WAY back. Sep 1851, married Thomas Jefferson SPARKS in 1876. (SPARKS is my line). Enoch and Nancy also had Xerxes, b. 1859, and Agatha, b. 1866. I would like to locate this family and descendants after 1880 when they show on the census in Orangeburg, Mason County. After that, I cannot find them. I need info on other possible children of Enoch and Nancy, their families of origin, marriage/family info on Xerxes and Agatha, and burial locations for all. Thanks for all your help.

    2. The death record might possibly be in Robertson County since part of Mason was taken when Robertson County was formed. My Great Great Grandmother was Nancy Dotson and most of the information I found on her family was from Robertson County. They live near Sardis in Robertson. Check at Mt. Olivet. Don Lee

    3. I think you're right, Don. Looking for Dotsons in Lewis County is barking up the wrong tree. Robertson and Nicholas, and, to a lesser extent, Fleming County, could be more rewarding.
