Hello, I have never participated in the KYMASON-L site but I am writing to say that I have McDowells. Was his father Col. Samuel McDowell and his mother Martha McClung? I have Col. McDowell dying in Danville, KY in 1817 and Martha was from Ireland and died in Shawnee Springs, Mercer Co. KY. in 1827 Do write if these people are related. I have them going WAY back. My Great Great Grandmother was Nancy Dotson and most of the information I found on her family was from Robertson County. They live near Sardis in Robertson. Check at Mt. Olivet. Don Lee

I think you're right, Don. Looking for Dotsons in Lewis County is barking up the wrong tree. Robertson and Nicholas, and, to a lesser extent, Fleming County, could be more rewarding.
