From downtown Maysville you take St Rt 10 ( Forest Ave ) east. You can't miss it. Just as you enter the big gate you will see the chapel on your right. The caretakers office is located there. I don't know if he leaves a phone number. Sometimes you just have to catch him there. He is very helpful and has all the burial locations.

Is there anything on the web about it? Is there a caretaker to get in touch with. I'm thinking it is a large cemetery, and haven't found a list or a mention of a book that has the burials in it. I think my Hiram Price and Sarah Walker Price is buried there. They died about 1855-58. Hiram Price was a wagoneer and his sons were teamsters in the census. Two sons, Thompson and John Freeman Price stayed in Mason County. Some of his family moved on to Boyd county after his and Sarahs deaths.

    3. What she said. ;o) I think the cost for the FHL film rentals has gone up recently. If I remember right, it's $5.75 per film now. I would echo Elizabeth's experience with the helpfulness of the Mason Co. Museum staff. Their website is here: http://www.masoncountymuseum.org/articles/home.asp Kathy -----Original Message----- From: Elizabeth Cord [mailto:santateresasj@yahoo.com] Sent: Saturday, May 06, 2006 11:37 AM To: KYMASON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [KYMASON-L] Catholic church The church was and is called St.Patrick's, it is still there. Sacramental records were filmed years ago and are available through your local Family History Library (LDS church). If you go to your local FHL, they can order the films from their main Salt Lake City Library for a minimal fee (about $2). The cemetery for this parish was also called St. Patricks, or locally just called the Catholic cemetery. It was/is located in Washington, very close to Maysville. In addition to the microfilms mentioned above, the Mason County Museum has burial records for local cemeteries, including St. Patrick's. I am not close by but the Museum will do your research for a fee and send copies. I don't recall their research fee but I didn't think it was too much, I was very pleased with the work they did for me. They also have old newspapers and some courthouse records. Additionally, some courthouse records are available through the books of Frances Ingmire, I think they are called "Mason County Records" or something like that. Again, your FHL is probably the best place to find those.

    2. Kathy Hines
    3. St. Patrick's is the main Catholic church in Maysville. My husband's Irish family attended church there sometimes. If I recall correctly the congregation was about 1/2 German and 1/2 Irish. There was often some talk of the congregation splitting in two, to suit the different ethnic groups. The records have been filmed and are, fortunately, available through the Family History Libraries.
