    3. I don't see either a James Fla(g)herty or an Agnes Davis on the 1850 for Mason Co. either. Have you double checked the microfilm to see if the marriage record transcription is accurate in this case? Some of those old records are pretty darn hard to read and we humans aren't above making a few mistakes. Ancestry.com has transcribed as: (this is a cut & paste, not me typing it) Marriage Records of Mason County, Kentucky Volume IV 1834-1844 Name: Hiram McGraw Spouse: Sarah Ann Collins Marriage Date: 08 Jun 1839 William Collins, B. In his Civil War records, Anthony lists his parents as Hiram & Sarah Ann Collins. One would think Anthony knew his mother's correct name! BTW, can you tell me what exactly the "B" stands for? Is it Bondsman or brother or ??? I've also see "F" & have assumed it meant father but right about now am no clear on anything! The more info I find, the less I seem to know, lol. This marriage of Hiram's is what keeps causing problems as someone, somewhere must have transcribed it as Isaiah m Sarah, same dates, blah, blah. To add to the fun, there's both the father & son named Isaiah, as you know. In addition to mixing up the brothers, several have mixed up the two Isaiah's. Even the LDS website has it wrong. Have you reached any conclusions as to which name is correct, Josephine or Issaphanie? Maybe the person recording marriages in Mason CO is the one who had trouble spelling....he could also be the source of my wrong info about which brother married Sarah A. Collins. In the time period we are talking about, many people spelled phonetically & didn't have a lot of occasions to write/document their name. Not like today, where we have ID for everything. My direct relative is Hiram McGraw, b abt 1805 Mason CO KY. He married Sarah A. Collins b abt 1817 KY. Married 8 June 1839, Mason CO KY. They had 3 kids: Susan Jane McGraw b abt 1839 KY m George W. Columbia b abt 1835 KY Anthony Wayne McGraw b 14 Dec 1843 Sardis, Mason CO, KY (per his Civil War Records) m Lydia McKinney b 7 Jan 1861 Brown CO, OH Married 18 Dec 1877 Aberdeen, Brown CO, OH Sarah B. McGraw b abt 1845 KY unknown if married, etc. Anthony Wayne McGraw & Lydia McKinney are my direct ancestors.

    3. Thanks, they were Union, which is why I thought they might be in a National Cemetery. I have a gr-gr-grandfather on the other side of my family who is buried at Jefferson Barracks. but that is where he died. These two brothers entered the army in November from Ohio, were in the infirmary with typhoid or diphtheria by December, and died one week apart in February. I haven't tried Johnson County yet. His parents were Thomas and Ann McMahan. I think they lived in Nicholas County, at least by 1880. I have Tom and Ann's siblings as: Bruce, Sallie, Fannie, Garrett, and Mary. I sure would like to make a connection with members to this family, because Ann was my gg grandmother. I have alittle bit more info on this family, and will be glad to share. Thanks Kath
