Brenda, I know there were Evans and Davis in Mason County, a little later than this, but I don't have any information on these people. However, I am looking for an Amanda Belle Evans, who's father was Washington Evans. I will double check my database for these people. Rebecca Davis 1803 SMC, MD) had two sons born in Mason County: Zachariah (1813) and James D. (1814). James D. was born in Mays Lick. This family was Catholic and removed to Daviess County, IN in 1820. We believe this Joseph was s/o Joseph and had brothers Bennett, William and James in SMC, MD.
Tom Donovan was the name of the patriarch of the prominent Irish Catholic family with the extensive commercial property holdings in downtown maysville, but he was born about 1890-1900 or so. Interestingly, his wife's name was Catherine (nee Geiger). --- Doug Gordon <doug@wdgordon.com> wrote: > I have a Thomas M. Donovan who was born circa 1785 > and married Catherine > Stout in 1805. I have a Charles Donovan, abt 1791, who married Malinda Hitt, 1791-1848 daughter of Aaron Hitt, they had four children: Catherine Donovan Aaron Donovan- married Louise Crawford Jane Donovan James Donovan-married Emerine Poe Don
Because one of your Donovans married a Hitt, and one married a Poe, most likely you are related to the Sardis, KY Donovans, of whom Dr Herman Lee Donovan, who was president of Eastern Kentucky University and later of the University of Kentucky, was the most notable member. --- Hdlee9936@aol.com wrote: > I have a Charles Donovan, abt 1791, who married > Malinda Hitt, 1791-1848 > daughter of Aaron Hitt, they had four children: > Catherine Donovan > Aaron Donovan- married Louise Crawford > Jane Donovan > James Donovan-married Emerine Poe > > Don > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email > to KYMASON-request@rootsweb.com with the word > 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and > the body of the message > ____________________________________________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I have a Thomas M. Donovan who was born circa 1785 and married Catherine Stout in 1805. The only child that I have for them is Alfred S. Donovan, born 1811 in Mason Co. Alfred was not married and moved to Texas to fight in the Texas War of Independence circa 1836-38. He was paid in land grants and stayed in Texas to do more buying, selling, and development of land. In 1841 he again joined an ill-fated Texas military venture known as the "Santa Fe Expedition". A couple of months into the expedition, they ended up getting lost and wandering around the West Texas High Plains. They were attacked by Indians. Alfred was killed and his body never recovered, although his father eventually recovered his back pay from the Texas government. Your John Frank Donovan was born too late to be Thomas's son, and I don't personally know of the other Donovans in the area. Would anyone have access to any information that might track Margaret Harding, b. June 20, 1838 in Mason county? I do not have a date of death, but family history says that she died very young - a baby or young child. Might she be buried in the old cemetery? Her parents were John Allison Harding and Sabina French (they were both buried in Indiana). Would appreciate any help anyone can give. If anyone finds her, I would appreciate knowing who is buried nearby also. Thanks. B.J. Harding --- http://USFamily.Net/dialup.html - $8.25/mo! -- http://www.usfamily.net/dsl.html - $19.99/mo! ---
