Hi Mark, You will love that library. Plan to get there early and stay late. You won't run out of things to look through while you are there. When you go in, ask them for the surname files on the FORMANs and CRAWFORDs and who ever else you are looking for. Thanks, Kathy... I'm going to be in the genealogical library in Maysville on 9/12 if anyone has a look up they'd like for me to do. I am looking for any info about William H(amilton) FORMAN, his father Willam A(ndrew) FORMAN, and his father Charles W(illiam) FORMAN. I have William H's marriage license which states that he married Lillian CRAWFORD, daughter of John CRAWFORD, and Ann RIGDON CRAWFORD on 5/5/1885 at the Bride's Father's home in Murphysville, Mason County, Kentucky. Lillian CRAWFORD was born approximately 1868, and died 10/24/1929 (Lillian GAULT). By 1910 she was re-married and living with Richard F. GAULT according to the 1910 Miracode index. Lillian and William H. FORMAN had a son, Earnest (or Ernest) Crawford FORMAN in 1888. Ernest died 4/26/1941. According to the marriage license of 1885, William FORMAN was born in Hamilton, MO, and his father was born in Mayslick, Mason County, KY. His mother was born in Aberdeen, Brown County, Ohio. I'd love to have obits/death dates for the three above. There's a Charles W. FORMAN who was a famous missionary...Not the same guy. And, I think the Charles W. FORMAN I'm looking for may have married Mary O. PICKETT in Feb. of 1839. The marriage bond is signed 2/11/1939 by Marshall Key. Bondsman: H. Tayor. In the 1850 Census I have Charles Forman (42), farmer, living with his wife Mary (30), and son Willam A. (12) in Mason Co, KY. In the 1860 Census I have C. W. FORMAN, 55, Mary, 40, W.A., 22 (M), M.P.(F), 21, and W.H., 1 Month (M) all living in Caldwell Co. MO. By 1863 I have Wm FORMAN showing up on a 'List of Owners of Lands and Lots in Caldwell County forfeited to the State in October 1863, for Taxes of 1862' By 1870 I have them all back in KY, and then nothing else. I have found a William A(ndrew) (re?)married to Amanda PARKER then some children: John FORMAN, b. ca. 1869 in KY, Mollie FORMAN, b. ca. 1871 in KY, Amanda FORMAN, b. ca. 1877 in KY, and Snowden FORMAN. Snowden apparently had a daughter, Lelah FORMAN who died November of 1983 in Maysville. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark Forman __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

At least two and maybe four Jesse Coopers getting married in Mason County during the same period. I suppose there could be deaths and remarriages in there. In fact, if Basil Cooper was born in Feb '06, while his father got married in April '06, it is possible Jesse had a first wife who died in childbirth, and he remarried immediately to give his newborn a mother. I just noticed that Clarissa Wallingford married William DeHart Boone. Any connection here. William DeHart Boone was the son of Jacob Boone and Mary DeHart. My actual line is John Boone and Margaret Peggy Cooper. So how do the Cooper's, Wallingford, and Boone's connect. Thanks. Surnames: Wallingford, Cooper, Applegate Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WBB.2ACI/2950.1.1.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Judith, As I mentioned in a previous posting, Jesse Cooper and Mary Applegate were married in Mason Co, KY. A transcription of their marriage bond, albeit incorrect, is available on the Mason Co Genweb site. Their daughter Mary married Jacob Richards in Mason Co as well. Jacob and Mary moved to Indiana along with the other Coopers & Wallingfords, no doubt. Another daughter of Jesse & Mary, Malinda Cooper Jenkins, died in Ohio County. Her parents are listed on her death certificate as Jesse Cooper and Mary Applegate. Malinda was born in Maysville, KY per the record. I too have seen different dates of death for Mary Wallingford Cooper. I have a cemetery book from Dearborn Co, IN. It includes Riverview Cem, nr Aurora. The information was taken from the cemetery's record books and not from the tombstones. The original books include the names of the parents, when known. Both Mary Cooper & Amanda Cofield are buried there. Amanda's father's name is listed Joseph Wallingford and Mary's father's name is listed as Wallingford--no first name. This backs up both the family tradition and the death record you found for Mary Cooper. The date of death for Mary matches exactly what you report from the death record. According to a biography of John Wallingford Cofield, son of Robert & Amanda, he was born in Crittenden Co, KY and moved to Indiana with his parents. At the time of his birth (l1826), Crittenden Co did not exist as such, rather, it was Livingston Co. I have searched the marriage records of Livingston Co several times for the marriage records of Basil Cooper & Mary Wallingford and Robert Cofield and Amanda Wallingford. I have also searched the adjacent Illinois counties to no avail, (family tradition states Robert & Amanda were married in Shawneetown, IL about 1826). In 1820, a Joseph Wallingford was living in Gallatin Co, IL. His household included children the right age to be Mary & Amanda (as well as the other children). By Dec 1824, Joseph had returned to Mason Co where he married Susan Conway. I have not determined when he died but Susan was there in 1850. Unfortunately, there is no record of a will for this Joseph, nor have I found any relevant deed records to ind! icate he owned land, anywhere. Another child of Joseph and Jean, allegedly, was John Wallingford. John was born ca 1804 and married Ellen Cooper on 20 Jan 1830 in Mason Co, KY by Walter Warder. The bondsman was none other than Jesse Cooper. There was no relationship indicated on the bond nor is there evidence of Jesse having to give his consent for Ellen to marry. Of course, if she were of age, her father's consent would not have been necessary. John and Ellen were living in Dearborn Co in the 1830s when they were busy buying and selling land. They eventually settled in Crittenden Co, KY where they both died. There certainly are a lot of coincidences among these people! By the way, Joseph Wallingford & Jean/Jane Thornton were married in Adams Co, OH in 1801. Somewhere buried on my desk is a copy of a page from a compilation of Adams Co marriages. I remember reading that the early marriages for Adams Co (before 1803, I believe) were recorded in the deed books instead of separate marriage registers. Should you write the courthouse for the original, this tidbit may be helpful to the Recorder's Office. Thanks for the link to the church site. I'll check it out. Darryn

I hunted through the Ohio County microfilm awhile back and found the death record for Mary Ann Cooper (father's name listed as Joseph Wallingford). She died 07 Sep 1891aged 82 years old. This doesn't prove she was the wife of Basil Cooper, but it does clinch her date of death. Does the marriage record you have prove the link between Basil Cooper and Mary Wallingford to your satisfaction? Thanks, Judith
