    1. [KYMARSHA-L] KYJacksonPurchase-Lore List Now Operational

    3. My friends - I have now received word from RootsWeb that the KYJacksonPurchase-Lore List has been created, and is operational. We're now ready to go, on that List, for family stories, regional lore, and more of the "homespun" type of posts that would be off-topic for this List. We'll retain our genealogical focus here, and have the Lore List for the exchange of those many other things that make genealogy come alive - Civil War stories, family diaries, and the many other things that make people out of these names and dates we all have in our files. The Lore List will have few guidelines - no off-topic posts(i.e., posts about happenings in some county or area outside the JP region, for example); no virus warnings posted to the List, no attachments, and the usual no-flaming rule. This is going to be a very informal List, and I will do more monitoring than posting to it. I hope it proves to be useful to everyone who uses it. The subscription routine is the usual one: send a message to KYJacksonPurchase-Lore-L-request@rootsweb.com, with nothing in the subject field and only the word Subscribe in the message area. If you would rather be on the digest mode, substitute the letter "D" for the letter "L" in the address string(.e.g., KYJacksonPurchase-Lore-D-request...etc.). For subscribing only, that word "request' has to be in the address string(but it's not used for posting messages to the list). That will get you subscribed. I'll probably post a kick-off message after we have 15 or 20 people subscribed, but I suspect such will be unnecessary since most of our subscribers will be coming from one of the lists I host. I'll be back later with this week's land grants file and, hopefully, that "special" file from Graves County. -B ===========================================================
