My great grandmother was Mary Ellen Harmon who is listed on page 552 of the 1850 census of Marion County with her mother Martha Harmon age 52 listed as head of the household. Apparently her father was already dead at that time. Does anyone know who her father was? Mary Ellen was born in 1828 and on September 30, 1850, she married James Riley in Washington County. He was the son of Smith and Nancy Shewmaker Riley. James and Mary Ellen moved to Marion County and lived in the Haysville/Riley Station area, and their eight children were born in Marion County. In 1877, they moved to Boone County Missouri. Would like to hear from anyone who has information about this Harmon family, especially the descendants of Martha Harmon.
