I put a copy of "The Descendants of Sylvester Wimsatt and Eleanor Spalding, his Wife in the Kentucky Room of the Owensboro Library. This was compiled by Jessie lee Wimsatt and Martha Ellen Mitchell in March of 1972. This book reflects the research of W. Harold Randall, an attorney in Springfield, Missouri. Randall did this research in the 1930s....then went to WWII and resumed the research and then he either died or ?? but the gals mentioned above continued on. It has some interesting stories and so on. ..but of course it is dated back to1972 and your family is mentioned.. One of these descendants married a Schrecker and that's how I came across this information as I'm researching Schreckers..... There is some interest information about Sylvester Wimsatt who is buried at St. Alphonsus cemetery at St. Joseph, Daviess Co., KY...i'm sure you would find this old information interesting.. hope this helps.....and I'm also guessing that if you contact Jerry Long at the library he can give you all the information available on the Wimsatts.... good luck...... Amelia Kelly Chicago >> Thank you so much for your information regarding the book by W. Harold Randall. I am responding to you via the county mailing list so this information can be beneficial to any others that have contacted me and did not know this existed as well. I hadn't realized how close to Mt. St. Joseph Academy & Convent these Wimsatts had lived. Knowing they lived in Curdsville (as James Monroe Wimsatt's parents were) and buried at St. A's like Sylvester Wimsatt helps me see the connection to this boarding school and convent. Thanks so much for the information. I hope to spend some time at the Big O (Owensboro) soon and check out the book and walk the cemetaries. DJMurphy Louisville, KY DJMurphy79@aol.com
