I have been corresponding with Mary Jo Maguire, President of Washington Co Historical Society, and she informed me that all Washington Co records remained in Washington Co after formation of Marion Co. Alos, it appears most civil records were lost in the Marion Courthouse fire during the Civil War(1863), with the exception of those marriage, birth and death records that have been transcribed and posted to the list previously(thanks, posters!) Mary Jo says, "What that did, however, was to throw every probate and land sale into Circuit Court to reconstruct ownership and relationships. These Circuit Court records are at Library and Archives where they can be searched. But you have to come to KY." Hope this helps some of you searchers locate family records! Beth Abel Jones
