I have Mary Ann Margery Shanks Bright's father as Thomas Shanks (1780 SMC, MD - 1855 Union Co., KY). Cannot tell you where I found this, though, or if it is correct. Just thought I'd mention it and ask you about it. Mary >> Thanks for your comment, Mary. I don't have any proof that Charles Shanks and Lydia Witherington or Wetherington are the parents of Mary Ann Margery Shanks who married Charles Bright. (see below) 1 Charles Shanks m. Lydia Witherington 2 Mary Ann Margery Shanks b: September 20, 1813 Nelson Co., KY d: February 10, 1902 Graves Co., KY m. Charles Bright b: May 05, 1809 Washington Co., KY d: December 27, 1859 Graves Co., KY I have no dates on Charles & Lydia. Charles was the son of John Anselm or Hanson Bright and Descendants of John Anselm "Hanson" Bright John Anselm "Hanson" Bright b: Abt. 1789 St.Mary's Co., MD d: April 21, 1837 St. Vincent, Union Co., KY who married Theresa Cissell b: 1790 St. Mary's Co., MD d: October 1833 Washington Co., KY. Does anyone have any information about Charles and Lydia (Witherington) Shanks? or information about the Thomas Shanks b1780 SMC, MD & d1855 Union Co., KY? For some reason information on Shanks & Brights are scarce in SMC...also in Washington Co., KY. All help is appreciated. sorry... my last message was proof of fading memory. the Vice President was JOHN C. Calhoun, not James. Sorry about that! Calhoun This has been bothering me a while... Anybody know if James C. Calhoun (A.Jackson's VP) had kids? If you look at a pic of him in his earlier days (say 30s-40s) he looks a LOT like Randy Travis (singer)... Anyway, onto my real question.. Anybody know if James is related to the KY Caldwells (his middle name was Caldwell)? Thanks, Adrienne.

HI-I'm researching the January, McElroy, and Grundy Families of Lebanon, KY-especially the line of Andrew January and Willie Josephine (McElroy) Grundy... Their daughter, Sara January Grundy married my gggrandfather, William Russell Deemer on Dec. 19, 1901... I have information about all three families, especially the January's who go back to about 1600... I have more specific information that I'll post if anybody wants... Also, I'm looking for anybody who would remember Lebanon, KY in the summer of 1949. In that year, my grandmother, Sarah January Willison (at the time she was 14, so that's her maiden name) visited her January cousins. She only remembers a few things: the family she visited lived on a plantation (tobacco, I think), but there recently had been a fire, and the main house had been somewhat destroyed, so they stayed in the ex-slave quarters... she learned to drive in their pickup truck in the fields.. apparently a community swimming pool had recently been installed, and she helped teach some how to swim... she also remembers a cousin named Andrew, who was a few years older than her, not married. Can ANYBODY help me find this family's location now? Adrienne Gallagher Narberth, PA
I doing research on the Mackins of Washington and Marion (then eventually Jefferson) counties and found the following obituary today in the Louisville Courier-Journal: MACKIN -- At 6:25 p.m. May 25, 1917, William Joseph Mackin, beloved husband of Margaret O'Hare Mackin, aged 45 years. Funeral will take place from the residence of his uncle Mr. Pat Glynn, 626 Floral terrace (Louisville) at 8:45 o'clock, and at St. Louis Bertrand church at 9 o'clock. Interment in St. Louis Cemetery." I believe William Joseph (b. ca 1871) is the same as William Joseph Mackin (b. 4 Sep 1870 and baptized at St. Augustine's in Lebanon), son of Thomas Mackin and Anna Walsh/Welsh. Does anyone know who Margaret O'Hare or Pat Glynn are? They may be Jefferson County folks, but I thought I'd start here. Thanks in advance! The couple moved to Casey Co and had a large family there and died there. Can anyone help me find the place they may have married? It appears to look like Calvary or Convent...Priest name looks like Uecims. Thank you for any help you might give me. Judy
Perhaps someone who has a lot of Thompson information can help us climb this brick wall. It seems that in Kentucky there are about 3 catholic families, and 1 or 2 Thompson families that are not catholic. Sometime before 1880, Caroline Thompson b. 6-03-1855 St. Mary's, Ky d. 9-30-1897 Loretto, ky, married Joseph Milburn Thompson b. 7-25-1850 where ? d. 9-25-1917 Loretto, Ky. We have heard that they were 2nd cousins. Descendants of these two individuals, that are alive today, do not know who the parents of Joseph Milburn Thompson are. Caroline's parents are Daniel B. Thompson and Malinda Mattingly. We can trace Daniel & Malinda's ancestors for several generations. Joseph Milburn Thompson's ancestors have yet to be discovered. Can anyone help? This might help to connect some of the Thompson families!! Dolores & Danny Bohn
John B THOMPSON b. 1778 Md, d. 7/14/1833 Ky m. 6/13/1807 Susan Elizabeth Mattingly b. 3/17/1787 d. 3/9/1872 Their Children: Benjamin, Elizabeth, John, Leo, Margaret, Peter, Raphael, Edmund (my ggf), Austin, Thomas. Does anyone have any photos that can be e-mailed? I was just wondering if it is possible to attach old photos to an e-mail. Is it possible to swap photos? Danny Bohn

I'm looking for members of the Inman family that lived in Marion County between 1800 and 1900, especially interested in Golden Inman that Married Polly ? on 7 December 1830 in either Marion or Washington County. Any information connecting Golden to an earlier generation would be greatly appreciated. He is my GG-Grandfather. Thanks,
I forget if I responded to you already. I am also descended from John and Polly through Benjamin Mattingly. Unfortunately we have the same dead end. Are you aware of the apparent relationship to Archbishop Fenwick of Boston? It is believed that they were cousins, probably 1st cousins. That would apparently establish who Polly's grandparents were at least. Let me know and we can share information. I'd be interested in information on Peter's descendants, and I would be happy to provide info on Benjamin's if you are interested. Email me at MTMCDEA@AOL.COM if you are interested in sharing information. Chris H.
