    1. [KYMARION-L] FRANCIS MARION KESSINGER
    2. Larry T. Cooper
    3. Searching for parents of Francis Marion Kessinger b. Oct 1863-1865 in Marion Co. KY. I believe 1865 to be the correct date. His mother may be Sarah Dianna Willoughby Coy. His father Unknown Kessinger. Frank Kessinger had 1/2 brothers George and William Veteto/Vittatoe. He was listed in an 1880 census in the household of Elbert Newton Veteto (I believe in Indiana). Frank has lived in Marion Co. KY, in Butler Co. KY and in Indiana while growing up. As an adult he has lived in Indiana, Kentucky, Arkansas, Illinois and Missouri. He was married at least two times: once to Odecie Clementine Daugherty after 1880, she died about 1895; and last to Ida McIntosh in 1904. Frank had at least three children with Odecie: Emma (Davis), Mary (Allgood) and a son, Fred(?) Kessinger. Frank's children with Ida include: Ollie Francis, James, Claude, Bessie Laverne, Dorothy, Joe, Maymie, Ben and Elizabeth Kessinger. Can anyone check whatever vital records that may be available in Marion Co.? I am starting to believe that Frank may have been illegitimate. Does Marion Co. or the state of Kentucky have what they called Bastardy Bonds where the mother had to name the father? Any information to help me find Frank's father would be deeply appreciated. Thanks, Linda

    1. [KYMARION-L] Cholera epidemics
    2. Beth J
    3. Does anyone have knowledge of the cholera epidemics in Marion County? I was browsing Marion County biographical sketches in the Univ. of KY archives, and several mention persons dying of cholera in 1833. Also read somewher(and didn't write down my reference!) there was another epidemic that killed over 700 people in 1849. This might be cause of death for many of our ancestors. Any one have any more info on this? Beth Abel Jones

    1. [KYMARION-L] FRANCIS MARION KESSINGER
    2. Larry T. Cooper
    3. Looking for the birth record of Francis Marion Kessinger b. Oct 17, 1863 in Marion Co. Kentucky. We think his mother is Sarah Diana Willougby Coy and unknown Kessinger. The Kessingers were known to have lived in Marion Co. and Butler Co. KY. They lived in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Nebraska. There is confusion about the exact date of Frank's birth from one census record to another. In an 1880 census he was 15 yrs old which would have made him born in 1865. On his marriage license in January of 1904 to Ida McIntosh in Mound City, Illlinois it states that he was 38 years old which would be consistent with 1865 since his birthday is in October. In 1880, Frank was in the household of Elbert Newton Veteto and Sarah Dianna Veteto. He was the only child listed as Kessinger. I don't know if Frank's mother and father were ever married. Can someone find out if there was ever a marriage? Was there such a thing as Bastard Bonds in Marion Co.? If so could someone check to see if Frank's father was ever named. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.

    1. [KYMARION-L] John Abell/Dorothy Bowles
    2. Beth J
    3. A Randy Dunavan kindly did a lookup in "The Rolling Fork Settlement" by Gerald Thompson and found John and Dorothy Bowles Abell! Six of their eight children are also included. Parents for Dorothy are given as Anthony and Alathaire Bowles, and Alathaire is all that's listed for John. Any ideas? John and Dorothy were married in Wash Co. on 1/21/1825. Also, George W. Abell's date of death is listed as 4/16/1914, which confirms that he is buried right there at HNOM in Marion Co, according to the church records posted on the GenWeb site for Marion Co. Anyone have further information or connections to these people? Any help greatly appreciated!! Beth Abel Jones

She was the person responsible for paying the funeral expenses. Does anyone know if this lodge still exists? If not, where the records may be? Could it be that Pearle Scott Moore may be from that area? Any help appreciated. BB
