Can anyone help me in finding out the maiden name of Joseph Back's wife Rosa? They were married in Marion County somewhere around 1841 and 1842. Joseph was from Garrard County but Rosa was from Marion County. Rosa was born around 1817.
List: 2 questions: 1) My ggg uncle George W. Abell, b 6 Nov. 1828. On 1850 Census there are two George Abells, age 21 in Marion Co.(One listed as George A, but cd be error, as most were named George Washington). 1880 census shows two George Abells, age 52, one m. to Elizabeth, one to a Martha. Found a family group sheet on LDS site that shows a Geo. W. married to Martha Jane Ewing, but the submitter gives Martha Ewing's d.o.d. as 1877, so she shouldn't be on the 1880 census! Can anyone tell me who this other George Abell is, and which George married Martha Ewing, and Martha's actual date of death? 2) Went to the LDS Family History Center yesterday and checked Marion Co. and Abell listings at Salt Lake City. Found two listings I had not heard of: Abell, Abel, Able surnames in the federal census of KY, 1800-1850, and The Abell Family of St. Mary's County MD and the American Revolution, both by William Russell Abell. Unfortunately the 1st is not available on microfilm/fiche, so can't get it on loan. Anyone know of these books? If fairly accurate the census book could be very helpful, as it includes some genealogical information which might sort out these pesky Abells. Any info greatly appreciated! Beth Abel Jones

Hi List Members! Does anyone out there have information on Samuel Cartwright? He was, from what I have gathered, a Longhunter, of KY, who died young. His daughter, Sarah was said to have married an unknown Phillips Boy, who was the father of Thomas, Benjamin and John Phillips of Phillips' Station. Thomas ended up having a land dispute in which many of the first settlers of that area participated. They are: >William Pope >James Guthrie >Jacob Vanmeter >Thomas Phillips >John Tuell >James Dogherty >John Phillips >Mesheck Carter >Benjamin Phillips >Samel Haycraft >David Standiford >James Pursell >George Pomeroy >James StevensonAdam Shepherd >Charles Whitaker >Squire Boone >Leven Cooper >James McCawley >James Patton >James Welsh I had posted this query to the wrong list. Found out the areas I need to address are Nelson, Washington, and Marion Counties. Thanks for any interest! Christen Rosamilia

Here's a great resource from the Washington Co mailing list, and it does show two Holy Name cemeteries, one "New", it's the older one that will have most of our people who died before 1880. Anyone have an index for this "old" Holy Name? Beth
