What McKenzie's are you looking for? We have 6or7 hundred pages on this family. My father was Henry Mckenzie md. Goldie Stratton. His Parents were Martha Joseph and Elige McKenzie. Will have to get my book to go on from there. Hi all does anyone have the actual 1880 census for Magoffin Co Ky I am trying to Document & fill in all those Pace's in Magoffin Co Ky Looking for John C Pace and Nancy 's Bailey Children I have the 1880 Cd put out by the Mormon Church but it does not list a child Mathew Taylor Pace for them and I have found a lot of errors on these CD's was wondering if they perhaps left off a Child..named Mathew or Taylor .. I have a problem I have received a Funeral Notice on Matthew Taylor Pace b- 1872 in Magoffin co Ky on this record says he was the son of John J Pace and Nancy Bailey of Magoffin Co Ky I have identified all the other children on that CD.. so know one of them mentioned on Cd is not Mathew Taylor Pace Sure appreciate you looking this up...this is what I have from CD 1880 MAGOFFIN COUNTY KENTUCKY CENSUS PRECINCT 3 # 52 JOHN PACE W M 36 (AGES ARE INCORRECT) FARMER KY KY KY NANCY J W F 36 WIFE KY KY KY (nee BAILEY) M---J W F 13 DAU KY KY KY Amanda Jane MARY A W F 11 DAU KY KY KY SARY E W F 10 DAU KY KY KY JANE W F 8 DAU KY KY KY MONROE W M 5 SON KY KY KY this is Alexander WALLIS W M 3 SON KY KY KY LIEW (SIC) W F 1 DAU KY KY KY Darlene Pace
Darlene: I'm afraid to say that's exactly what the 1880 Magoffin County census says at Ancestry.com. The writing is poor, but I found NO Mathew Pace on the listing. He is not in the household in 1880. I'll look for him by name and get back to you. Constance
AHA! He is the child of Mathias and Lizzia, not John C. and Nancy Bailey. Here is the household (Next door to John C. and Nancy) Mathis 43 Lizzia 46 (name I can't make out) daughter 20 Nancy A. 17 Louisa (spelled wildly) 14 John 13 William 11 Albert 9 Taylor 7 Doria 5 Doria 2 (I think they repeated the name by mistake) Coincidence? I think you pamphlet was mistaken about his parents. Constance
Thank you so much Constance & B Nichols That Taylor is listed in one Census as Taylor R Paces/o Mathew Pace & Elizabeth Salylor ...and the Matthew Pace in Washingon State.... wife Emily Willis- Pace was informant on the Funeral Home Record ... It sure is a puzzle... guess we are going to have to get Probate records on John C Pace to see if he lists a son Matthew Taylor Pace as know on the 1900 Census there are two Mathew Pace's I think if my memory serve me.... enough to drive one crazy..(((Grin))) Thank you again... The Taylor Pace I found is 7 years old in 1880. That matches your DOB. I found Mathew T. Pace in 1900 as well as a 27 year old man with his own family, wife Emily Jane, Gertie, Molly and Ella. I wonder if the funeral pamphlet is a misprint, like so many tombstones end up being? My Spence family puzzled for years over a tombstone unearthed while repairing a street in Charleston, WV. The dates were incorrect, so was the name...turns out it was a tombstone ordered but botched up. The stone maker tossed it and it ended up helping to build a foundation for a street! The correct stone was never ordered. Stranger things have happened! Constance
Sorry, The census book of 1880 by the Magoffin County Historical Society matches the CD your have. It is not unusual for the census to miss someone.
