In Magoffin County KY Marriages Volume 111 it says he was William Wilson and they married 24 Sep 1911. Witt: Irvin Wages and Wilhenry Farrish. No parents or ages listed.
Does anyone know who the WILSON was that married Darthula ROW about 1912 in Magoffin county? Darthula (aka DOVE) was d/o Nathan & Jane ROW. She is listed in the 1920 Magoffin Co. census as Dove WILSON, age 45, widow, with sons Findley, Andrew, and Nathan. Researching the Harvey Wilson family of Magoffin county. Any help much appreciated! Freddie Wilson Florida

Hi. I am new to the list and seeking some information about my family line. I am originally from Morgan Co, Ky now living in tidewater,Virginia. I am descended from John and Paulina Jones Franklin of Gray Fox, in Magoffin County. John was born 1-26-1835, and died 8-28-1922. He was the son of Martin and Eliza Franklin. John and Paulina had 10 children...Wiley,Julia, Henry-(my line), Mary Katherine or "Kate", Charley, Milton, Alex, Lucy, Grover, Jim, and Wonnie. Some of them married into Patricks, Howards, Praters, Carpenters, and Wireman families. I am seeking information on descendants for a family reunion later this summer. John and Paulina are buried at Bloomington. Also, I am looking for any information I can find on John. He was a Confederate soldier and served in the 5th KY INF. I am trying to find a picture of him. If anyone has marriage records, I was told that his first wife was an Isabel Ferguson. I would like to know what date they married and who were her parents? I would appreciate ANY information that anyone could share. One more thing... I will be returning to Kentucky a few times this summer. I will be going to the state archives in Frankfort and to Magoffin Co. Historical Society. I will do lookups for anyone who needs them. Thanks in advance for any information on John and Paulina Franklin or there descendants.
I am researching Pace's as well. My great grandmother was a Pace. I would love to contact you personally about them, especially the Harlan County lines. More volunteers and resources are added to the lookups page. More deaths have been added for Magoffin Co 1900-1929. Gloria
Hi again, I also have Cemetary books, 4 volumes and index that I bought from the Mag. Co. Hist. Soc. It is pretty current. It should contain any markers that Todd Preston and the wonderful people who searched and found them in and around Magoffin Co. I will do lookups with what is listed.. . . .Kaye
As far as a newspaper in Magoffin County in the 1800's there wasn't one. There were a few newspapers in some of the surrounding counties in the late years of the 1800's. Here is a link to find what newspapers are available on microfilm at the UK library in Lexington KY and these got be gotten through interlibrary loan. _http://www.kygenweb.net/ukfilm/index.html_ (http://www.kygenweb.net/ukfilm/index.html) I use these a lot, not only for Magoffin County, but more other counties in Kentucky. Secondly, the Lexington Public Library (Central Branch) now has the death certificates on microfilm (similar to those at the History Center in Frankfort) from 1911 to 1953. The cost is $.20 per page. This cost would be more if you request one through the mail, but you might check their web page for that information. Bax Arnett McClure daughter of Baxter Arnett and grand daughter of Haden and Josie Arnett
You can find KY death records from 1911 on at Ancestry.com or in Frankfort at the Archives. Before that point, KY didn't require that birth or death be kept. Whether or not Magoffin County kept them anyway would be an individual choice. Perhaps someone else can answer that question. HOWEVER, the Court house would have kept his will or record of the settlement of his estate. That might be one way to prove his dod. Constance
Gloria: I can also do some lookups on a limited basis. By that I mean I may not be able to respond within minutes of the request as I am a full-time student, mother, caregiver of a stroke victim, etc.! I have all census information from Ancestry.com, SSDI, American Records Collection and so forth. Constance
Hi All, Well, I have to say you Magoffin Countians are a wonderful group to work with. I can't begin to tell you how helpful you all have been to me, and I want to do my very best for you. Thank you so much for those volunteering to do lookups. Please feel free to contact me with any suggestions on how I can improve our site and what we need to work on. I do know that Cemetery readings are definitely something we need, but since I don't live in Magoffin County that makes it a little difficult. If anyone lives there and would be willing to work on some of these, we would be more than appreciative. So far your willingness to help has been GREAT! Thanks to you all and have a wonderful day, Gloria
What is Address of County Clerk office .. would this be the only Place I might find a death Cert? and What Newspapers were circulating in years 1860 & 1870? ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 27, 2005 6:49 AM Subject: [Magoffin] Praises to you all > Hi All, > Well, I have to say you Magoffin Countians are a wonderful group to work > with.
