    3. For Bailey researchers: Re: Mill Branch near Hendricks, Magoffin Co, KY. (not far from Salyersville). There are several Bailey Family burial plots / cemeteries up Mill Branch. There are still long term Bailey families living un the Mill Branch Holler. One such Bailey was Earl Bailey who lived there for about 95 years. Earl is now departed but his son still lives there. Mill Branch is not far from the Licking River area described in the letter below. A trip up Mill Branch would be worthwhile to any Magoffin Co. Bailey researcher. I am not a Bailey descendent - my father was born up Mill Branch and as a boy was a neighbor to the Baileys and others. The Historical Society and others have done a fine job researching this Bailey family. Most of the Bailey family lived in the extreme southern part of Magoffin Co. near the Knott Co. border. It was my grandfather's opinion that Joseph Bailey was the son of John Bailey "as best we can learn". According to my grandfather J.F. Bailey, he was the son of Enoch M. Bailey who married Charlotte Powers on 11/29/1870. Enoch M. Bailey was the son of Wallis Bailey who was an ordained minister of the United Baptist Chruch who died on 1/4/1885. The Rev. Wallis Bailey died at his old home on Rockhouse Creek of Burning Fork in Magoffin County and lies burried by the side of his wife (Mary) on a point near the mouth of Rockhouse Creek, overlooking the valley of Burning Fork. Wallis was the youngest son of Joseph Bailey. Other than my grandfather's opinion that Joseph Bailey may have been the son of John Bailey, I am also at a deadend.

I am the grandson of Judge J.F. (Frank) Bailey who was the Circuit Court Judge for the 24th Judicial District for some 30 years, and the son of Wallis Marion Bailey. "Judge" moved to Lexington and purchased "Loudon House" from the Goodloe estate and later sold to the City what is now known as Castlewood Park. I have Judge Bailey's hand typed geneology on his Circuit Judges letterhead that I can share with you. He traces to Joseph Bailey who came from England and settled in Lee County, Virginia, moved to North Carolina and then resettled at the "Meadows of Licking" in what is now Magoffin County.
