Caldwell County is having it's 200 year anniversary this year and they hope to have many things to mark the occasion. They hope everyone will come and join in on these activities. Saturday May 2, 2009 at 1 o'clock a Memorial Marker Dedication will be conducted by the Caldwell County Historical Society for William Prince, Revolutionary War soldier and founder of Princeton. The ceremony will be by the William Prince Memorial Marker behind the Princeton City Hall and across the street from Newsom's Old Mill Store on East Main Street. The Ohio Valley Chapter, INSSAR Color Guard will be presenting the colors dressed in Revolutionary War era clothing with SAR Ladies Auxilary in Colonial dress. They also hope that many William Prince descendants will be in attendance. ******************************************* Saturday May 2, 2009 a Native American Rememberance Day will be held at the Trail of Tears Park in Princeton presented by the Caldwell County Trail of Tears Commission. Opens at 1 o'clock Closes at 4 o'clock There will be things to do and learn. They will have a real Tepee, show how to make a cornhusk doll, how to make a leather pouch, see clay pots being made. Learn how a blowgun was used, watch basket weaving. At 9 o'clock they will have the opening ceremony - 10 am Flute playing-11 am Story telling. At 12 o'clock take an herbal walk to see all of the herbs planted at the park and learn about them. At 1pm learn how to do a Social Round Dance and 2 pm more storytelling. Make your plans to attend. Sorry, I made a mistake on the time that the Native American Rememberance Day opens. It begins at 9 o'clock NOT 1 o'clock. The William Prince Memorial Dedication begins at 1 o'clock. It should all make a very exciting day in Princeton.
