Hi List, I just wanted to let you all know that there will be no more obits posted to the Caldwell Co. message boards until a problem is resolved, if in fact it ever is resolved. Kenneth has spent hours and hours for many years and money from his own pocket making copies of the obits from the library at Princeton. Also making trips from Ind. to Princeton to get them. He did this only to help all of you researching your families in Caldwell Co & Lyon Co., Ky.. Many of you have emailed to tell him what a wonderful resource this has been for you and how much you appreciate having them. And we both appreciate you telling us that. Anything you post to a Rootsweb message board should be your property but it seems after you do all of the work and post something it no longer belongs to you but is the property of Rootsweb to use as they wish. Vicki Stewart has been the Caldwell Message Board Administrator since 1997 and Ken has been her assistant since 1999, this was to make sure when Vicki had to be with her son who has been battling cancer for many years that someone would be able to manage the board and help you if you needed it. Vicki has always put the researchers and their needs first, not how a board might look just always wanting as much helpful information as possible to be there for the ones searching for their ancestors. Vicki has succesfuly managed this and other boards for all of these years. Recently Vicki and Ken were removed from the Caldwell Message Board without their knowledge or permission and it was turned over to a new administrator. She immediately began to remove the obits from the Caldwell Message Board and reposting them to other more "appropiate message boards". This being the surname boards. The obits have not been deleted but now you will have to go to the surname boards and do a search for that obit. ie: if you are looking for an obit for John Smith then you must go to the Smith message board..... We are so sorry for this and are hoping that Vicki will soon have her Caldwell Message Board rightfuly returned to her and the obits that have been removed to be reposted. Caldwell & Lyon County researchers... this is your message board and if you wish to voice your opinions or concerns here are email addresses that you might write to about this issue. If you want the obits back on the Caldwell Board let them know.. Ken has said he will not post anymore to be moved here and there he was doing this for those researching Caldwell and Lyon Co., Ky.. Let them know too if you think Vicki has done a good job and deserves her Caldwell Message Board rightfuly returned to her. She and Ken have both worked to hard to maintain quality information for all of you researchers. [email protected] Marilyn Heitz "New" Caldwell Co. I am sorry that you folks are running into such trouble posting those obits. I am aware of the effort and time required to get obits as I have gone to my library and had to sit through hours of searching old film for obits. I wish there was a website that was not so fussy. Apparently MyFamily is forcing some changes since they bought out Ancestry.com and some other sites a couple of months ago.
