Ken G. *************************** Jan 14, 2005 XXXXX, It is odd that you should bring this up. Larry Walston and myself are in the process of restoring this monument. It is about 100 yards from the new Springs subdivision as you go toward Old Kuttawa. It is on the lake side of the road. Last summer, we formed the Friends of Cobb's Battery Monument. We have met with the Corps of Engineers, Kuttawa city council, Eddyville city council, Lyon County Fiscal Court, Lyon County Tourism Commission, and the State Highway Department. We now have permission to renovate this monument. We are only aware of two such in the country, the other being in New Orleans. We are accepting donations and have already accumulated over $600. We are currently waiting for the weather to get better. By this time next year we hope to have the monument fixed (it is cracked terribly) and the area terraced with visitor parking and a handicapped accessible walking trail.
