I'm looking for a male with the Brindley surname with roots in Lyon Co. to participate in the YDNA genealogy program. We would have to be able to prove his line back to John T. Brindley in the 1820 Christian Co. Census. John T. Brindley married Ann Twitchett in Rockingham Co. VA before going to Christian Co. Their son Young E. Brindley married Eliza A. Reynolds in Christian or Caldwell. Although Young E. died early, Eliza and/or her children can be found in the censuses of Lyon Co. until 1910. THE TEST WILL BE PAID FOR, and the descendant doesn't have to even put his name on the test swabs from Family Tree DNA if he doesn't want to. Gale

Hi to all, Since Mother's Day is coming up, it started me thinking about something Ken and I both did sometime ago. I was visiting with my mom in Kentucky before her death and we spent alot of time talking about her family and going through old family photos. I decided to ask her about her Wedding Day. It was wonderful how she remembered every detail down to the cost of everything, the town and what was happening at the time. I scribbled down everything she told me, dates, colors, prices places and names of people. When I got home I went through my notes and put it all in story form. On my next visit I read it to her and asked if any changes should be made. We did the same thing with Ken's mom when she was in a retirement home before her death. It was amazing how she could remember even the cost of her shoes, where they married, people in the town. With men it usually is a different story, they do well to remember the date. I think they were so happy to finally win the girl and that was the thing that was most important to them. Now both our Moms have gone on to meet their ancestors but we still have these wonderful stories of their wedding day to pass on to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If you still have your mom go spend some time with her this Mother's Day and learn her Wedding Day story, if she is no longer with you write your own story and give a copy to your children or grand children. Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms Peggy & Ken G
A census taker in a rural area went up to a farmhouse and knocked. When a woman came to the door, he asked her how many children she had and their ages. She said, 'Les' see now, there's the twins, Sally and Billy, they're thirty-two. And the twins, Seth & Beth, they're twenty-six. And the twins, Penny and Jenny, they're twenty-four . ' 'Hold on!' said the census taker, 'Did you get twins EVERY time?' The woman answered, 'Heck no, there were hundreds of times we didn't get nothin.'
Hi Folks, Thanks for all the emails and prayers. I am home now. Heart was racing but the rest of me just wanted to lie down. Got it shocked back into normal rhythm. Really dont need this kind of aggravation. Got too much genealogy work to do. Hope all of you have a good day. Sorry, I made a mistake on the time that the Native American Rememberance Day opens. It begins at 9 o'clock NOT 1 o'clock. The William Prince Memorial Dedication begins at 1 o'clock. It should all make a very exciting day in Princeton. Peggy Saturday May 2, 2009 a Native American Rememberance Day will be held at the Trail of Tears Park in Princeton presented by the Caldwell County Trail of Tears Commission. Opens at 9 o'clock Closes at 4 o'clock There will be things to do and learn. They will have a real Tepee, show how to make a cornhusk doll, how to make a leather pouch, see clay pots being made. Learn how a blowgun was used, watch basket weaving. At 9 o'clock they will have the opening ceremony - 10 am Flute playing-11 am Story telling. At 12 o'clock take an herbal walk to see all of the herbs planted at the park and learn about them. At 1pm learn how to do a Social Round Dance and 2 pm more storytelling. Make your plans to attend.
