Jesse H. May was born in Logan County, Kentucky, January 1, 1849 and moved to Illinois with his parents when he was still in his early youth. He lived in the vicinity of Salem a number of years and later moved to Raccoon township where he engaged in farming and was successful in that pursuit for many years up to the time of his death.
