    3. I have made a major find in Logan County KY for my Baker and Coats families on the early Logan County KY Tax Books...prior to this we just could not connect this group to each other or back to SC...I might add an old Baker genealogy naming Nancy Baker who married Rev William Coats as the daughter of a Sylvester Baker out of North Carolina is not correct... 1792 - John Baker and William Coats - this John Baker is the son of at least three known children - Jeremiah Baker, who went to Gallatin County IL from Wilson County TN by 1847, Nancy Baker who married the above William Coats and Anna Baker who married Benjamin Baker brother of William Baker above. 1793 - John Baker - land on the Red River - William Coats, Benjamin Coats and Wilson Coats, all three brothers - John Baker eventually went to Bedford County TN then on to Wilson County TN where he died in 1844; William Coats and Nancy Baker Coats went on to Smith County TN and then on to Callaway County MO in 1817; Benjamin Coats went first to Bedford County TN and then Smith County TN where he died about 1850; Wilson Coats is actually found on the Logan County TN list as late as 1799 and eventually went to Bedford County TN where he died in 1822 John Baker was born in 1747 in Stafford County VA, was a minute man in the American Revolution, after the Revolution he went to SC, 60 miles from Charleston up the Broad River, this is where his daughter Nancy Baker met William Coats, who was born in SC and is the son of William Coats on Kings Creek, who died in Kershaw County SC in 1784 living a will naming all four of his sons. From SC they went to Logan County KY where at least 1 or 2 of William and Nancy Coats' kids were born. Barton Coats, the other son named in the will of William Coats of Kershaw County SC, sold the land of William Coats' on Kings Creek in 1792 and is found in Robertson County TN also along the Red River. William Coats of SC, his wife's name was Frances... Now the journey begins to figure out where, this William Coats w Frances came from before South Carolina... 3. Well, I need to correct a few errors here...did this before morning coffee, I guess...:) It is Benjamin Coats, not Baker, he married Ann Baker, and the William Baker likewise should be William Coats, William, Wilson, Benjamin and Barton Coats are all brothers... Logan County TN should be Logan County KY On 2/11/06, Charlotte Coats <[email protected]> wrote: > > > 1792 - John Baker and William Coats - this John Baker is the son of at > least three known children - Jeremiah Baker, who went to Gallatin > County IL from Wilson County TN by 1847, Nancy Baker who married the > above William Coats and Anna Baker who married Benjamin Baker brother > of William Baker above. > > 1793 - John Baker - land on the Red River - William Coats, Benjamin > Coats and Wilson Coats, all three brothers - John Baker eventually > went to Bedford County TN then on to Wilson County TN where he died in > 1844; William Coats and Nancy Baker Coats went on to Smith County TN > and then on to Callaway County MO in 1817; Benjamin Coats went first > to Bedford County TN and then Smith County TN where he died about > 1850; Wilson Coats is actually found on the Logan County TN list as > late as 1799 and eventually went to Bedford County TN where he died in > 1822 > > > For details on the Logan County KY Tax Book info: > http://www.coatsarchive.us/docskentucky.html > -- Always Remember: Without documentation, genealogy is mythology!
