McGoodwin/Kerr: I seek information about the parentage of Daniel McGoodwin. Lore in the family states that he was born 1 August 1763 in Ireland and that, at the age of 6, he came to America in the company of an older woman. He lived in North Carolina until after his marriage (to Elizabeth Kerr on 1 May 1887.) It seems he had some connections to the Hunter family. He served two or more enlistments in the Virginia Line in the Revolutionary War. He migrated to Kentucky and settled in Logan County. He was a farmer. Daniel and Elizabeth had several children ( Jane, James Kerr, John, David W., Preston B. and William Hunter) and, when he died 25 October 1839, he was buried in a small cemetery that is now in Russellville, Kentucky. I would sincerely appreciate information about his parents and about his roots in Ireland. Jim McGoodwin (of the Wm. Hunter line.) .
Do you possibly have Elizabeth's birth and death dates and possibly the names of her parents? She might be one of my Kerrs. I don't seem to have him listed but I haven't really researched this line yet.
