On Saturday, October 1, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., the restoration of the Governor John Breathitt Cemetery will be dedicated. This cemetery is located off US 68-80 North Bypass in Russellville; signs will be posted. Noted visitors from The Golden Years will meet you there. In addition to Breathitt, surnames found at the cemetery include Whitsett, Whitaker, Jones, Harwood, Blakey, Poindexter, Byrne, Wilcox, Lansden, Banks, Hannum Todd, Felts, and Gorham. From 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., the Governor John Breathitt House, East Fifth Street, Russellville, will be open for touring and feature a Golden Years exhibit. There will be brochures available highlighting homes in the area from the Golden Years, and hosts and hostesses from the past will share their stories. There will be no charge for either of these activities. Also available for touring will be the Logan County Genealogical Society’s Archives at the Old Jail, 278 West 4th Street, and Historic Russellville’s 1817 Saddle Factory Museum and Bibb House Museum.
