George (Rhoda Bishop) Caldwell of Butler County KY is my great X3 uncle. Samuel J. ( born 1840 Butler County and died in OK. in 1927) was indeed his son. But there was also a Samuel Caldwell (Logan County) son of Robert Caldwell. He had a large family in Logan County. I think Barb who is one this site has much information to share about that group. As for Hogans in George Caldwell's group( Butler County) I am not familiar with that name. I have George's line through 1725-1970's There is no connect found so far as to connect these two groups of Caldwells. Both family branches came from about the same area in Ireland and settled in Virginia before coming to Kentucky. Lynne
In Perrins History of Kentucky there is a Samuel J. Caldwell and in the write up it says that he was the son of James and Martha (Reid) Caldwell. He (James) was born March 10, 1810 and his father was GEORGE W. CALDWELL, a native of Virginia and who in early youth came to Logan County now Butler, where he died about 1837. Nancy

Carroll was my father Clarence Manion's first cousin. All of us trace back to Redmund Carroll and Eliza Kelly who arrived in Kentucky from counties Mayo and Sligo in the early 1850s. If you are a descendant of Robert's you have hundreds and hundreds of Carroll cousins. In fact 150 of us convened in Henderson KY last weekend (August 5-8 2005). We have "lost" all the Dickerson line and would love to "find" you!

My great great grandmother was Daisy Hughes (married Will Haynes). Her real first name may also have been Artie. In her 1897 marriage record from Logan County, she's listed as Artie Daisy Hughes, but in the 1920 census she's Daisy A. Hughes, and my grandpa new her to be Daisy. In any case, she's fairly elusive, since she was born in Dec 1882 and was married at a young age in 1897. Since the 1890 census is just dust now, she doesn't appear as a Hughes anywhere. As I said, she was married in Logan County, and my grandpa says her family was from Russelville, although I've found her in the 1900 Census (married) living in Caldwell County. If anyone can somehow help me find out who her parents might have been, I'd much appreciate it.

Carol, We recently returned form Logan County. The people at the Logan County Archives were very nice and generous with their help. They have composed a booklet of Logan County Cemeteries which provide driving directions from Russellville. I loved Russellville! The directions I gave you is for Simpson Co. Who are you looking for? Give me some names and I will look to see if it is the Stevenson Church Cem. Here in Simpson County. Margaret
Direction found in the Logan county, Kentucky Cemeteries book are: From Russellville, KY, take Hwy 68 - 80 west, turn left on Stevenson Chapel Road; church with cemetery is on right side of road a mile onor two south of Hwy 68 - 70 turn off. Hope this helps. Sue At 10:37 AM 7/22/2005, you wrote: >I will be doing reserch in Logan Co. soon. Would someone please take photographs for me of the graves of my great-great grandfather, Lloyd S. B. Goodwin (he after 1900), he served in the Civil War and is buried in Head Cemetery along with his brother, William Dee Goodwin & his wife, Nene Robertson Goodwin. I would love to have them, this is my direct line, and I live in Indianapolis and have no way to get down there to take them myself. Thanks in advance. Teresa Goodwin-Skaggs
