    1. BRANHAM/BRANNUM
    2. Rex Bertram
    3. Hi all. I am searching for information regarding my BRANNUM/BRANHAM family of KY, having come there from Stokes Co., NC. My GGGG grand-father was Richard BRANNUM/BRANHAM who was born in Stokes Co., NC in 1789. He enlisted in the Army in Stokes Co. in 1809, and signed up for 5 years service, having fought during the War of 1812. He married about 1814, and had 4 children: James W. 1815 Mary 1819 John 1820 Andrew Jackson 1830 Richard was in moved all over. He appears in Overton Co., TN in 1850. By 1860, he is in Logan Co., KY where his oldest son, James W. was living. Richard lived out his life in Logan Co., having died there sometime late in the year of 1860. Richard was the son of Barnabus BRANHAM who was born about 1745 in Goochland Co., VA. Barnabus moved from VA to Stokes Co., NC, then to Roane Co., TN, and finally to Clinton Co., KY, where it is pressumed that he died. Richard's brother, George, moved to Clinton Co., KY about 1840, and died there in 1873. Many of George's descendants are still in Clinton Co. Rex W. Bertram 132 S. 1. Graves Family Association and Graves DNA project
    2. 2006 is here and our Executive Director of the Graves Family Association, Ken Graves, is already busy at work organizing the BIG Graves Family Reunion Jun 15-17 2007 in Williamsburg VA to coincide with the 400 year anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, VA of which Captain Thomas Graves was a part. He is also busy with the Graves DNA project. Anyone not a member of the association please consider joining. Go to WWW.GRAVESFA.ORG to find out more or email Ken at [email protected] To learn more about the DNA project which has some new interesting facts about the descendants of CAPT Thomas Graves of Jamestown (or should I say those who thought they were descendants) go to the site and click on DNA project and do some research on what Ken has to say. Also click onto the DNA scholarship site and see the generations who are contributing to the fund and the DNA samples from certain generations. JOIN today and learn more about the GRAVES family. Also, we are asking that as many of you that can contribute something to the DNA analysis project. Ken is $173 in the red for 2006 and since he is a 100% volunteer a $10 or $25 or $100 donation to help fund the tests is appreciated. There is also now a Graves Blog about which the details can be found on the Graves site and sign up for the association newsletter. Happy New Year to each of the cousins. Hope to meet many of you in Virginia in 2007. Ron Graves in Texas GFA Volunteer

    1. James Simpson in Auburn
    2. I am searching for info on my Simpson line. On the 1900 Logan Co. census for Auburn, I find James Simpson b. 1862, wife Ida (Idabelle Dodson Simpson) b. 1862, daughter Nina M. b. 1886, sons Jesse R. b. 1892 in Bowling Green, Warren Co. and Burnie R. b. 1897 in Warren County. The birthplaces for all and their parents are shown as KY, KY, KY. In 1910, I cannot find James Simpson anywhere. But on the Henderson City 3rd Ward, Henderson Co. census, I find Ida remarried to John Riley/Reilly b. Penn. <1863 and they were married <1907. In household are stepsons Jessie & Burnie Simpson. Also on the 1910 census in Magisterial district 7, Henderson Co., I find Nina Simpson married <1906 to John Evans b. <1882 in KY with daughter Edna b. 1907 KY and son Melvin b. 1909 KY. (The full names of the children are Edna Pearl Evans and Melvin Earl Evans. There was a third child b. in Henderson Co. in 1912 named Irene Evans.) On 1920 census in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I find Idabell Dodson Simpson Reilly, John Reilly, and granddaughter Irene Evans. Jesse Simpson died in Colorado Springs <1819 of TB, and Burnie Simpson died in Cook Co., Ill. in 1968. I have been unable to find Nina Simpson Evans, John Evans, Edna Pearl Evans, or Melvin E. Evans since the 1910 census. They are believed to have moved to Indiana before 1920, but have been unable to find anything there. I would appreciate any information anyone may have on these families, especially any marriage, death, and/or cemetery records. Thank you, Elaine
