Surnames: Hutchings, Holland, Patterson,Carrow Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QBB.2ACI/3015.1.2 Message Board Post: Have family connections thru my gg-grandfather Richard Hutchings (born in Robinson Tenn 04-22-1811) which married Mahala Holland. They moved to Missouri (St Francois County) in 1848. Their children were: Dicey, Mary Margaret, John Baker, Francois Marion, Virginia Ann, William Richard (my great- grandfather) and George Washington Hutchings. My grandfather was William Elbert Hutchings and my father Aubrey Clifford Hutchings. I have an old letter from 1963 from a Bertha Hutchings that states Mrs. Emanuel Peterson (which I assume was Emanuel Hutchings prior to marriage) owns a farm/land in Marion Township (which would be @ St Francois County MO), prior to that it was owned by Mr Berry Synder & prior to that Richard & Mahala Hutchings. I always remember my Dad talking about the old Peterson farm where the "Hutchings" graveyard was. Do you have any info on this as well? Let me know if any of these relatives match your lineage. Would love to have or swap info. Thanks, Christine (Hutchings) Straughan

Surnames: Poore, Haden Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QBB.2ACI/607.187.188.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Here is additional information re Thomas Poore that married Susannah Haden. I'm afraid the generations of Thomas Poore are getting mixed up as more than one Thomas Poore had a wife named Susannah. Susannah Haden was the daughter of Zachariah Haden and Elizabeth Poore. She was born 29 Sep 1768 as listed in THE DOUGLAS REGISTER. Parents Zachariah Haden & Elizabeth Poore were married 27 Jan 1763: Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Poor. Surety Obadiah Daniel (brother-in-law to be). Wit: Milley Poor and Ann Poor. Joseph Haden makes affadavit that Zachariah is "21 years of age or upwards" DOUGLAS REGISTER says: "both of this parish" Elizabeth Poore was the daughter of Thomas Poore & Elizabeth Moseley. The marriage between Thomas Poore & Elizabeth Moseley took place approximately 1744 when John Moseley gave them a gift: 16 Oct 1744. Deed of Gift from John Mosley, Sr to son-in-law Thomas Poor and his daughter Elizabeth Poor - 3 slaves, Ben, Hannah & Sue. Goochland Co VA Deed Book 4, p.433. Elizabeth Moseley Poore was born 14 Jul 1725 according to the Parish register of Christ Church, Middlesex Co, VA, so presumably her husband was approximately the same age. Going back an additional generation, Thomas Poore who married Elizabeth Moseley is thought to be the son of Thomas Poore and a Susannah whose surname is unknown. This relationship is proved by an additional gift to Thomas Poore and Elizabeth Moseley at about the time they married: Goochland DB 4, p.433. Susannah, wife of Thomas Poor Senr. relinquished her dower in a deed of gift of 200 acres to Thomas Poor Junr. & Elizabeth his wife. Now back to the Thomas Poore that married Susannah Haden. Here is believed to be the record of his birth from THE DOUGLAS REGISTER: Rob: Pore & Judith Walker a son named Thomas born Jan: 5 1762. Baptized 1762 Feb: 20. p.61 of Parish register. There is no consensus of opinion that I can find regarding Robert Poore, father of this particular Thomas, although some believe he is another son of the eldest Thomas, listed above as Thomas Sr. who married the Susannah whose surname is unknown. This seems likely. Thomas Poore and Susannah Haden had the following children: Family Group Sheet ============================================ Husband: Thomas POOR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Birth: 5 Jan 1762 Goochland County, Virginia Chr: 20 Feb 1762 Goochland County, Virginia Death: Jun 1811 Woodford County, Kentucky Marriage: 14 Feb 1786 Goochland County, Virginia Father: Robert POOR (1730-1803) Mother: Judith WALKER (1736- ) ============================================ Wife: Susannah HADEN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Birth: 29 Sep 1768 Goochland County, Virginia Chr: 3 Nov 1768 Goochland County, Virginia Death: abt 1834 Marion County, Missouri Father: Zachariah HADEN ( -1792) Mother: Elizabeth POOR (1742-1804) ============================================ Children ============================================ 1 F Lucy POOR Birth: abt 1790 Virginia Spouse: Dr. John B. 1. Coats DNA project
    2. Coats Family History
    3. Several Coats/Coate/Coates families lived throughout the US. Were they related at all? A special effort is being made to test those who might help us find that missing link. New connections made daily! To find out, we need to get more male descendants of Coates/Coats/Coate to take the Y chromosome (DNA) test. Three of my Coats line have taken it (It takes about 10 seconds to swab the inside of your cheek; then it must be mailed to the lab), and lo, we are related, plus we have about ten new, distant relatives. The problem is that there as yet are many branches in this family that would help us solve many family connections, so the links to the other relatives are as yet unknown and the kinship may be back 100s of years! So we need more males to take the test! Only males can participate in the Y Chrom projects, but as long as he is a Coates/Coats/Coate from your line he can take the test for those who are not Coates/Coats/Coate surnamed. This is becoming the resource of first choice for the beginner or seasoned genealogist, so why not add your family line now! Why we do it ! The Y chromosome is passed from father to son unchanged, except for a mutation about every 500 generations. Testing the Y chromosome will provide you with a genetic finger print consisting of 12 or 37 numbers. By comparing this finger print to others with your surname, you can determine if they are related. The objectives of Surname Projects vary. Here are a few: * Identify others who are related * Prove or disprove theories regarding ancestors * Solve brick walls in your research * Determine a location for further research * Validate existing research Often a Surname Project has multiple objectives, and the objectives may even change over the life of the project. Most Surname Projects start with the objective to identify others who are related, and through out the project the other objectives are achieved simply as a result of the project. Current Coates/Coate/Coates males tested, and we have 11 distinct family lines have been identified, plus there are some that have no matches. Test results are posted here: http://www.coatsarchive.us/dna.htm Our Most Wanted DNA lines: http://www.coatsarchive.us/DNAmostwanted.htm For more info regarding the Coats/Coate/Coates DNA tests, go to: http://www.coatsarchive.us/dna.htm Charlotte Coats Coats DNA Project Admin -- Always Remember: Without documentation, genealogy is mythology! 3. Linda, Do you have any documentation on the marriages that you posted? I found the will David Walker Sr., 1774, Goochland Co. VA that lists his daughter Judith married to Robert (Robin) Poor; the Walker's will states "...I give to my daughter Judith POOR, twenty pounds, allowed to her out of the thirty pounds already paid to her husband Robert POOR, ye remaining, ballance of ten pounds, I give to ye said Robert POOR, in consideration of trouble he may be at as one of my executors..."
