Surnames: WALKER, NEELY, FARRISS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QBB.2ACI/3122 Message Board Post: Where is Eben WALKER buried? Who is Major Neely? Exactly when did this incident occur (Fall of 1780?)? There is a legend that three WALKER brothers were attacked by Indians just north of the TN line, probably in the fall of 1780. At that time this are was in Logan County. They were on their way back to TN from "taking up" 800 acres of land near Dripping Springs, and Smith's Grove, KY. The names of these brothers are said to be John, Eben (Ebenezer) and William. It is said that the Indians had wanted their horses, and attacked them just north of the TN line. Eben was killed. The other brothers rode on 15 miles to the first settlement. It is said that this deterred the family from settling in their KY lands for several years. However, after about 1805 we do find John WALKER and his wife, Mary Webb FARRISS WALKER living near Smith's Grove in Warren County, KY. They were also members of the Mt Tabor Church very early. They settled in Washington Co IN before 1816, and have started the New Providence (Elim) Church in 1816. Elisha's Will dated July 11, 1819: pobated Dec. 18, 1819 for Elisha Allen. it lists his heirs: wife Sarah; sons, Elkanor, Thomas, David, Uriah, William, James, and Elijah; daughters, Sarah, and Polly Allen, Elizabeth Lawhorn, Jane Barrett, Nancy Cane, Margaret Acres. Body to be buried in New Provdence Church graveyard. (Indiana) Executor; Aleander Watts. There is a Jonas Allen family Group Sheet posted on Logan Co KY site speculating that Elisha and Sarah were the parents of Jonah. Although this does not appear to be the case, Woody family is a part of the Allen ancestry and I would like to investigate Jonah's line. I have submitted a group sheet for Elisha and Sarah to Logan Co site. Please contact me if you have further information or are interested in sharing ALLEN family information. Thank you.

    2. Rex Bertram
    3. Have you checked the Logan Co. birth records for him? Most of the KY counties kept birth and death records between 1852 and 1858. I use them often when researching for my clients. The Allen County Library, in Ft. Wayne, IN (second largest genealogy library in the world) has these records available on microfilm for all of the KY counties. These records typically give names of both parents; normally including the maiden name of the mother, so they can be extremely helpful. Rex Bertram 132 S. Butler St. Redkey, IN 47373 Will research your ancestor at the world's second largest genealogy. You give donation, only if I succeed. www.digginbones.com/NoRiskProResearch.htm -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dovie hazelwood Sent: Thursday, October 05, 2006 11:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [KYLOGAN] WILLIAM HENRY MOORE LOOKING FOR ANY INFOMATION ON WILLIAM HENRY MOORE BORN 1854 LOGAN CO ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message -- No virus found in this incoming message.
