He was born Barton (?) Shuler 15 Oct 1882 in Bowling Green and died 6 April 1952 in Alliance, NE. We don't have his parents, or even if he was really born in Bowling Green proper. Family lore says he left home at 16 over an argument with his dad, a music teacher, for a violin. His dad refused to purchase it for him. Bert left Kentucky and joined the railroad. He eventually married Dora Weidner in Cheyenne, Wy in 1909. Anyone having information on his parents would be appreciated. James, born 14 August 1795 in Northcumberland, Virginia, died 15 December 1838 in Hampshire, Virginia and married to Elizabeth M. Ashburn on 16 April 1818. His father being Isaac James who died in 1813" I do not know how accurate this information is, but it might be worth it to check out the will of 1813 for Isaac James in Logan County. Getting a copy of the actual document could provide you with more clues. Hope this helps.
