I knew a lot of Gibson and they were from Glasgow, KY Barren Co KY They worked with my dad. -----Original Message----- From: kylogan-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:kylogan-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Robin Holt Sent: Thursday, April 01, 2010 6:33 PM To: kylogan@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [KYLOGAN] Migration Our Gibson's and related families migrated to that area from South Carolina where they had settled from NC and Virginia, from what I have read & seen they came up from Tn. There was an old wagon trail from Knoxville to Nashville, then up through what is now the Hopkinsville area so I am figuring mine probably came up that route from the best I can tell. 1. [KYLOGAN] GIBSON Surname
    2. susi c pentico
    3. I am looking for the Ed Gibson family that lived in MO during the 60's while husband was in the USNAVY. Ed Gibson was my husband's buddy. His nickname was "HOOT" in the service by buddies. I believe they served together both on Guam and Moffitt Field Sunnyvale, CA area. I met Ed at the Moffitt Field tour. HE introduced me to my husband. I wanted to let him know we have 50 years together and I am so thankful for Ed to do this. Our first child is named for him. The military lost my ADD book when they shipped us to HI 67 ,when Ed went civilian back to MO and a family. I have hunted off and on for more than ten years now. I suspect he to be near 80 years or + since husband just hit 75. 3. Our Gibson's and related families migrated to that area from South Carolina where they had settled from NC and Virginia, from what I have read & seen they came up from Tn. There was an old wagon trail from Knoxville to Nashville, then up through what is now the Hopkinsville area so I am figuring mine probably came up that route from the best I can tell. 3. I know my mother came to Logan County in a Covered wagon in 1925 age with her parents to visit her mothers, mother and father and uncle Bill and family It took them 7 days to make the trip Bailey Peyton Cassity, Callie Beatrice Climer Cassity, 6 children, Oakley, Aline, Manson, Hester, Laura Etta and Viola, also on the trip was William Stanton Climer and Wife Bessie and their children and she was pregrant at the time. They visited James Manson Climer and Viola Virgina Hughes Thomas Climer, and also visited Uncle William Jefferson Thomas Hughes and Margaret Isabell Duke Hughes I know some said it would tale about 2 or three months from Jackson County Tn by water to the red river meets the Cumberland close to Clarksville TN and then take a covered wagon and follow the red river to Logan County. Lou Eleanor Dorsey) - I know that although they married in CA and returned there, they did live in Cooper Co, MO but am having a very difficult time finding evidence of their time there. Philip is the son of Baker Wallace Ewing. If anyone has any information about this family please contact me! Thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. WHITSON was married to MAUD CROWDER and ELSIE TIPPET. I am trying to locate the dates that this happened. I do have that Maud divorced him at Elkton Ky. on July 27, 1905...Any information would be very helpful and appreciated very much. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mbcapud Surnames: Buie, Bowie Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.logan/4618/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching the Bowies/Buies of Logan County, KY. Many reports have Jim Bowie being born there but I can't seem to trace his lineage to my family although all the "old folks" say we are related. I have sisters Sarah Emily Buie (b. 26 Jan 1854 in Kentucky, d. 7 Jan 1927 in Logan County, Kentucky) and Temperence Jane "Janie" Buie (b. 14 May 1858 in KY, d. 3 Nov 1925 in Logan Co, KY) marrying brothers Richard M. Nash and Lewis F. Nash, respectively. The Buie sisters' parents are John Buie (b. abt 1820 in Tenn.) and Susan Redfern/Redfearn (b. abt 1819). The Nash line continues into my family. I have census and marriage records confirming these events and that is as far as I have gotten. I would like to see if there is a link to Jim Bowie or not since the names are so close and they lived in the same place but I am stuck with conflicting accounts. Any help would be appreciated.
