Thank so much for the information! I am sure this is the family for which I am looking. The widow and her children lived in Ohio Co., KY, so I started with checking the 1850 censuses for all the adjoining counties. Logan was the only one I couldn't find on-line. It sure would have taken me a while to look in the Jefferson Co., KY, area. So you have saved me lots of research time. Thanks for taking your time to look this up for me. I appreciate it very much. There are several reasons you might not have found a death certificate: 1. The death record was never filed, 2. The death record was filed at the county level, but not at the state level, [check county records] 3. The death record was filed at the state level, but may be unreadable and is not indexed, [view Logan Co, Ky microfilm death certs.] 4. She was visiting out-of-state when she died, so the death record would be filed in another state. Hi I am going to library Thursday and will do WW1 draft cards.. I just need to correct name, approx age, county and state. I will be honest and let you know that the card from some states are poorly copied and made bad copies, but will do the best if copies are wanted. I can just get the information off the cards if that is all you want. Please let me know before Wednesday night. Lynne
