    1. Well now that I have your attention. Colvin Taylor VanCleve & poor lists
    2. Thank you for supporting me in the quest to get more postings to this critical list. Saw some familiar names-- Hi, Nancy and Lana. I have some Colvin marriages but none that are of the county. Mahala Stevens of Kentucky, Athens County, Ohio and Wayne county, Illinois married a Colvin and sired two children---Polly and Martha Colvin born in 1847 and 1848 resp. Cassandra Van Cleve(b. 1802) md Thomas Taylor--- but again not of the county. All of the documents I located myself by searching the courthouse in Stanford. There was a lady that I contacted who does reserach and is trying to stir up the Gen. Society to get more computer literate. She sent me a document on RICHARD SINNET that I already had, but she is continuing to keep her eye open for me. The poor lists were people who applied to the county in order to petition the government for land. They needed to show that they had not owned land and that they couldn't afford the state price-- whatever that was. They received up to 400 acres and the land was prime!! The county and deputy surveyor would go out and survey tracts of land and put them in a book. the Books are located in Lincoln County, KY even though at the time the land was in Virginia. I think what we need to do is to start to see what county References are available out there. If there is already a site that has this posted--- please let me know and I will stop posting info.
