Hi all, When my gggrandfather died he left some land to my ggrandmother in Lincoln County. I know it is in Lincoln county because I found a letter in her belongings that began Dear Cousin,... and mentions Brodhead many times. It is signed Lila Greene, which is I suppose to be her married name. My gggrandfather: 1. WILLIAM WALLACE WHITAKER was born 31 Dec 1823 in Buffalo, New York, and died 11 May 1904 in Alton, Kansas. He married LAURA CHANDLER. I found him on the 1860 Mitchell County Iowa County Census page. He didn't show up in Kansas until 1886. Were there homesteader land grants in Lincoln County in th 1870's. How would I locate the land inherited by my ggrandmother, ALICE CORDILIA WHITAKER in 1904; and possibly find out the birth record of FRANK CLARK WHITAKER born 6 Jun 1863, , perhaps in Lincoln County. Were the boundaries of Lincoln County hummungous during that period? Many thanks for reading and any help. Christina
