<< Hi- I am new to these lists. I am the eighth generation of Peter(ius) Banta, who was married in Lincoln Co. Kentucky on July 13, 1782, to Rachel Van Cleave. I know that Peter was born in New Jersey and a Revolutionary War veteran by the ripe ole age of 17! I know that he is buried near Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio. I am looking for any information that I can find about his life in Kentucky. It is my understanding that he was one of the first settlers in this area and was a much respected man. His wife, Rachel, survived an Indian attack at Long Run, near what is now Louisville. Her mother, Mary Shepherd- Van Cleave, was killed along with Rachel's sister (possibly two sisters) during this "massacre" in September 1781. I would appreciate ANY information about these family members. Thanks! >> Sherri
