Book 6 page 192: Know all men by these presents that I, Richard Sinnett of Mercer County & State of Kentucky have nominated and appointed and by these presents do nominate, appoint and ordain Jesse Hale of Mercer Kentucky my lawful Attorney for me and in my name to apply for and recover all such land and lands and other estate which I am entitled to for my services as a soldier in Captain Isaac Taylors Company in Cols. John Montgomery's Regiment Commanded by General George Rogers Clark on an Expedition to Illinois in the year 1779. Also all such estate as I may be entitled to as assignee of Patrick Carmichael who was also a soldier at the same time in the same Regiment and do hereby authorize my said Attorney to proceed the same by any and all reasonable and careful ways as to my said attorney may seem proper and right hereby ratifying and confirming whatever my said Attorney shall do in the premisses as fully and completely asif I myself had down and performed the same in my own proper person.
