Seeking information on various branches of the BURKS who lived in Lincoln Co., KY from the mid 1790's. Allen BURKS married Sarah BERRY on July 21, 1794. She was his first wife. Allen was born abt 1771 in VA (county?). Several other BURKS in Lincoln area, William BURKS (a judge) and a George BURKS (court clerk). Other surnames associated with the BURKS in civil records include; SHACKLEFORD, EMBERSON, DUNCAN, BUNTIN and others. The BURKS found also found in Mercer and Casey counties at later dates. Allen BURKS moved to Putnam Co., IN prior to 1830 near Greencastle. He married as second wife, Elizabeth TOWNSEND. Allan had sons, Berry and George T. BURKS.
