    3. I have wondered what happened to my subscription also. Never got a single acknowledgement that I was subscribed 'till I got these messages on the Digest today. Guess the list server is not configured to acknowledge subscriptions. We, the subscribers, now can get going and make this work for us now that we know it is alive. My interests are the Bird/Byrds that married in Lincoln Co in the 1795-1805 time frame. They all seem to have either migrated to other counties shortly after marrying, or were just organized out by county subdivisions. I have been trying to get Lincoln Co land record indexes to find out where they lived. May have some success with local hired researchers. We shall see. 2. After numerous attempts to resub to this list, I have had no success. I have sent to "KYLINCOL-L-request@rootsweb.com" the message "subscribe" exactly as directed in the confirmation page that I received with my original sub. I even tried subbing through the links of other sites, when all I had to do is click and write in "subscribe". So I know that the address was correct. Hopefully, someone (maybe the list sponsor) can tell me what the problem is. Thanks for any help. Fran - first generation Hoosier in northern Indiana.

    3. I am seeking information on David Kennedy (1830, Garrard County, Ky- unk), son of "Well Digger" Dave Kennedy (1790-1872) and Margaret "Peggy" Faulkner (1794-1881). In 1851, he married CELIA POINTER (1814-c.1863) of GARRARD County, KY. Their two children who lived were DAVID V. KENNEDY (18 Mar 1854-28 Dec 1921) and WALKER S. KENNEDY (1855-?). He is listed in the 1860 census living in LINCOLN Cty, Ky. Specifically, I would like to know when he died and where he is buried. Chris Kennedy jkenned4@san.rr.com

    3. I am seeking information on CELIA POINTER of GARRARD County, KY. She was born in June 1814 and married DAVID KENNEDY around 1851. Her two children who lived were DAVID V. KENNEDY (18 Mar 1854-28 Dec 1921) and WALKER S. KENNEDY (1855-?). She was most likely dead by 1864 when David Kennedy remarried. She is listed in the 1860 census living in LINCOLN Cty, Ky with her husband and family. She may be related in some way to Vincent Pointer (c1786-c1840) & his wife Anna Thompson (c1788-c1827) mainly because they are in the same county and there are several males named Vincent and Walker present in these families. 3. MATTINGLY-DRURY-VESSELS I am trying to establish the lineage of BARNARD MATTINGLY (SR) (born unk-died before 1834) of Breckinridge County KY. He was married to ANN (maiden name unknown) who married ELIAS DRURY in Hardin County, KY on 3 Feb 1834 presumably after the death of Barnard Mattingly. Barnard & Ann had at least two children: BERNARD MATTINGLY (born 11 Oct 1826, KY-died 2 Dec 1900, Nashville, TN), my great-great-great grandfather, ELIZABETH MATTINGLY (who married CORNELIUS VESSELS) and possibly IGNATIUS MATTINGLY (born c. 1830) who lived at the home of BERNARD MATTINGLY (JR) in Meade County, KY at the time of the 1850 census. BARNARD MATTINGLY, (SR) is possibly the son of CHARLES BARNARD/BARNET MATTINGLY found in the 1810 & 1820 Breckinridge County KY census. One researcher lists C.B.'s children as: Hannah "Spencer", Milly "De Haven", Susanna "Wheatley", Sarah "Wheatley" and Barnard. Can anyone link this Barnard with my Barnard? BERNARD MATTINGLY (born 11 Oct 1826, KY-died 2 Dec 1900, Nashville, TN) married ELIZABETH DAVIS (born c.1823-died c.1859) at St. Patrick's Chapel, Stithton (now FT Knox), Meade County, KY on 1 April 1845. They are present in the 1850 & 1860 Meade County Census recordings and then BERNARD appears to have moved to LINCOLN County, KY where he appears in the 1870 & 1880 census records. The known children of Bernard & Elizabeth are: Eliza Jane (born 2 June 1846) Robert Thomas (born 3 Oct 1848) Ann Maria (born 11 May 1850 - 30 Jan 1915) Mary Elizabeth (28 April 1852 - 9 Jul 1933, Nashville TN) Martha Louise (born 5 July 1854 - 4 May 1921) Phillip Ignatius (born 1 Dec 1858) Bernard Mattingly later married a woman named Mary Josephine Stephenson (17 Oct 1844 - 4 Mar 19073) and they had the following children: Josephine (26 Jan 1876-18 Feb 1966) Bernard Stephenson (23 Jul 1878-29 Dec 1945) Charles Edward (23 Apr 1881-11 Feb 1975) Peter Drury (Seo 1883-15 Jul 1957) Sara Boone (Mar 1885-14 Aug 1963) Richard Joseph (13 Oct 1887-22 Jun 1912) Robert Mattingly, oldest son of BERNARD MATTINGLY (JR) married a woman named Sarah (born c. 1847) and they had the following children: William Mattingly (born c. 1871) Bernard O. Mattingly (born c. 1873) Beatrice May Mattingly (born c. 1875) Robert W. Mattingly (born c. 1877) MARY ELIZABETH MATTINGLY, daughter of BERNARD MATTINGLY (JR) married my great-great grandfather, DAVID V. KENNEDY in LINCOLN County, KY on 25 Nov 1875 and they had the following children: Phillip Kennedy (born c. 1878) David Joseph Kennedy (21 Mar 1875-4 Mar 1955) Oscar Kennedy (born c. 1887) Elizabeth Kennedy (?) Any information that you might be able to provide on these MATTINGLY's would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Chris Kennedy jkenned4@san.rr.com

    3. I'm still trying to find my great grandmother, Sidney Warren. She was in Crab Orchard, Ky. in 1867, at time of my grandmother, Caroline Bakers birth. I found my great grandfather, Wallen W. Baker, on the 1880 Hancock County, Tn. Census, with a new wife, so Sidney Baker must have died between 1867 and 1880. I found a Gabriel Warren on the 1810 Census for Lincoln County, Ky. I wonder if he is related to Sidney. I would appreciate it if someone who has access to the 1870 Lincoln County, Ky. Census, would see if Sidney Warren(Baker), Wallen W. Baker and Caroline Baker are on it. Navada Gibson Heflin

    3. Margy: I checked the 1850 Lincoln County Census, and surprisingly enough, there is not a single PRICE family listed. There are two marriage licenses in the late 1800's -- and several before 1800, but not a single Henry and no James' that match the bride's name. 1. PRICE in Lincoln Co.
    2. Margy Miles
    3. Hello; I am looking for the family of my gg grandfather, Henry H. PRICE (1830-1913). I have searched high and low for this family for several years. I believe that his family may have lived in Lincoln Co. The first record I can find ANYWHERE of him is his marriage record in Pulaski Co., KY in 1858.....he married Margaret ALSIP. He reported at that time that he was a widower, this was his 2nd marriage. He was 28, she 16, daughter of James ALSIP of Whitley Co., Ky. I have his death certificate which was signed by a son, Henry Sherman Price. It says Henry's parents were James and Betty P_____. Betty's maiden name is there but almost unreadable. It looks like PUCKIT. Henry's first son was named James. My grandmother and a cousin, both now deceased, told me that Henry was coming from "out west" (the cousin insisted it was Missouri) by ox and covered wagon when his first wife became ill and died of pneumonia. The cousin said that Henry buried his wife just after crossing into Ky. near the Falls of the Ohio and went on toward Pulaski Co. This would have probably been in the early 1850s. (This could have been a RETURN trip?) There is an old statement on file in Pulaski Co. by a minister who states that he solemnized rites of matrimony on 13th (18th?) day of Dec., 1850 between Henry Price and Sarah BROWN. I do not know if this is my Henry, but have never found this couple on Pulaski records. One would think that if Henry married her so near the end of the year 1850, he would be on the 1850 census there. He is not. I need to find a marriage bond and think it could be in Lincoln Co. I have collected mountains of material on the Pulaski Co. PRICES. Most were from VA. But I have not been able to tie mine in to any of them. After Henry's marriage to Margaret, he purchased land in Pulaski Co. and later in Whitley Co. near the area of Cumberland Falls. He lived there till he died in 1913 and he is buried there in a family cemetery on his property. Any clues at all will be gratefully accepted and if you have an interest in the Pulaski Co. Prices, some of whom moved on to Mo., I am happy to share what I have with you. 3. Researching Roberts family of Lincoln Co., KY, specifically James Roberts, age 19, listed in household of Cassandra Roberts, age 80, b VA., in 1850 Lincoln Co., KY census. Also listed in this household (#165) is William age 22, laboror, b KY; Andrew age 25, laboror, b KY; and William age 15, laboror, b KY. (The printed Lincoln Co., KY 1850 census list the head of household as Amanda, age 50; this is wrong, the film, which has very clear writing, shows the name as Cassandra, age 80.) Believe Cassandra Roberts is the same person as Cassy Wright who married William Roberts [s/o William and Sarah Kelly Roberts] in Lincoln Co., KY in 1808. Also believe that they are the grandparents of the James Roberts age 19 living with Cassandra in 1850. Cannot prove who his parents are. This James Roberts married Catherine Laswell in 1853 in Rockcastle Co., KY. Will be glad to share information. LaVerne Ashabranner lashabra@venus.net
