    1. RE: Lincoln Co. ELLISTON / ELLISON
    2. Hi John, I am also interested in the Ellison/ Elliston name. We have had a tough time finding our Ellistons, because of my grandfather's adoption, which we aren't sure was even legal. No one seems to have ever heard of him in this family. It seems the Lincoln County people are difficult to find. Have you found this to be true with your family? Are you in Kentucky? Also did your family ever live in Tennessee? I know some of mine did. I found them in the census as Ellisons and then as Ellistons, but in Kentucky. My g grandmother signed her mariage certificate as Elliston, so I guess this may be right. People changed the spelling so many times. Let me know if you find more on these names or on Lincoln Co. What are the other Kentucky names you are researching? Thanks for your reply. Good luck in your search. Mc

    2. John Carter
    3. Mc, I always pay close attention to "Ellison" queries. My Great Grandfather was John Ellison Carter (Son of John "Jack" and Martha Ann Alford Carter). I'm always looking for where it may have come from. Both Jack and his son John E. were born in Lincoln County. John Ellison Carter was born on June 18, 1841 in Houstonville. John Ellison Carter named my Grandfather, John Tinsley Carter. He probably got Tinsley from marriage bond he signed, but I don't any more about where they went. I found this in the Mercer County Marriages: W. E. Carter (Bride) married A.J. Tinsley (Groom) on September 14, 1864 in Boyle County, Kentucky. Surity Bond by John E. (Ellison) Carter. I'm John Tinsley Carter II. So, as you can see, I'm interested in Middle Names, too! 3. Bob, There is a book available at the Lincoln County Public Library. It is titled," Marriages 1780-1850 & Tombstone Inscriptions, Compiled by Shirley Dunn, Published by Dorthy Amburgey Griffith, Copyright 1977. They have several others, too. It costs less than &20.00 at the library. You can mail order it from them, too. I don't have the address, but it may be on Larry's WEB Page. 2. Mrs. Dunn published a book of the cemeteries and pre-1850 marriages. I will be happy to do a lookup in it. Have been told that the cemeteries are not complete but do you know any book that is? Hazel

    2. Hi Hazel; In your response to the question about Lincoln Co. cemetery books, you mentioned one by Mrs. Dunn. Is this Shirley Dunn of Stanford? I know she wrote several about the area, but I don't know how many or the titles? Can you answer that question? I want to be sure that I haven't missed any!!!! Incidentally, she was the wife of my grandfather Dunn's cousin and the one who got me interested in genealogy. I've wondered for decades if she or either of her two daughters ever got the DUNN line further back than Abraham who was born in 1802 and married Agnes Smith ROBINSON in Harrison Co. 1. RE: FRAZIER
    2. John C. Carter
    3. Hi, Maxine! I knew if I stayed subscribing to this list long enough I'd find a cousin! :-) My name is John Carter, and I am a great-great-grandson of Joshua's brother, Robert H. Frazier. You mentioned that Joshua was born 1840, but according to my notes, he was born about 1847. According to the 1850 census, he was in the household of Fleming Frazier in Knox Co, KY (p. 345) as age 3. In 1860, the family is still in Knox Co, (p. 105), and Joshua is age 13. (You mentioned you show them in Lincoln Co in 1860?? Do you know what page/household #?) By 1870, I show they had relocated to Lincoln Co, and although my notes show that they are listed on p. 38, I can't seem to find a copy at the moment. Let me know if you have records to show Joshua's age as being different. Joshua's brother Robert H. Frazier was born 08 Mar 1842 in Claiborne Co, TN, and died 25 Dec 1923 in Crab Orchard, Lincoln Co, KY. He is buried in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery there. He was a Civil War veteran, and I also have a photo of him (from many years afterward). Robert married Sarah Jane "Sally" Oaks (12 Oct 1847-28 Nov 1884), on 06 Sep 1866, and had 6 children. After the death of Sally, he married Delila Padgett on 18 Apr 1885, and had approx. 6 more children (incomplete records on a couple of them). I am descended from one of the children of he & his first wife, and would be happy to pass along the rest of the info to you, if interested. Also, according to the marriage bond of Robert & Sarah, Robert's (and Joshua's) father Fleming (aka Flemon, etc) was from Franklin County, VA. (Don't know if you had the county yet, or not). Anyway, I hope this is of help to you, and I would very much like to correspond with you further, if interested. Thanks! John C. 1. FRAZIER
    2. Hi All, I'm new to this list. I'm looking for information on my FRAZIER ancestors. In the 1860 and 1870 census they were in Lincoln County. Fleming FRAZIER b. 1804 in VA, m. Elizabeth?; Their son Joshua FRAZIER b. 1840 in KY, m. Mary "Polly" Partin. Any information is appreciated and I'll be happy to share what I have. Best Regards, Maxine Partin
