Charles Moore married Henrietta Adams 09 Sep 1809 Lincoln Co. KY This is from KY Marriages to 1850, at Ancestry.com. Not sure what your other information is. Perhaps birthdates. Do you know if Solomon had any brothers or sisters? There were 2 Solomon Moore marriages from this same source Solomon Moore marrried Peggy Smith 07 Sep 1820 Bath Co. I'm new to this list, so please bear with me. I am searching for information on Charles Moore, who is probably my gggfather. I received the following information from a friend, with whom I have since lost contact, and I have been trying my best to find out what it is and what it means. The information came originally from a look up in Lincoln Co., KY, which is where my ggfather (Solomon Moore) was born (in 1814). > Charles Moore - Henrietta Adam 1788 11792 - both born KY. It said Charles was Solomon's father. > I don't know what a "look up" is. And I haven't been able to discover what the information is or from what kind of document or record it came. My ggfather was Solomon Moore, whose father was reported to be Charles Moore, married to Henrietta Adam(s). The above information appears to bear this out, but I don't know of its authenticity or its relation to any sort of documentation or record. I would be very grateful if someone could enlighten me on this matter. I have very few direct family members to aid me since I was raised an orphan in Illinois, where Solomon Moore moved to in the 1850's. Fortunately, the internet is providing help which makes up for my orphan situation. I'm hoping that getting the connection to Charles Moore settled might put me into good records and provide a good trunk to my family tree, as short and narrow as it is so far. I'm sorry, I did not give all the information, I ask about the location of Gilbert creek. It's a Holtzclaw cemetery located at the "MOUTH OF GILBERT'S CREEK. Sorry. margie -- RIFF¤
Can anyone give me the directions to the "mouth of Gilbert Creek" that's were one of my g-grandfathers' is buried? -- RIFF¤
Believe me, Chaplain's Fork still exists. In fact, two forks at the Mercer/Boyle line join into Chaplain River. The name of the other stream could have changed. Like Wilson's Run has changed names twice. Hazel
I believe the reason you have not received a response is because the description you gave could be most anywhere, I am sure the two black oaks and the hickory tree have been gone for many years and the stream has probably been dried up and perhaps the hill is now level ground due to construction and building in the area. Your description does not give a valid starting point ( my opinion ) based on today's surveys and etc. This has happened in many cases as trees died and streams dried up. The only clues you have to work with is the waterway of Thomspon Fork of Chaplains Fork and John Curry Line. You might possiby find a survey for John Curry and check to see what the waterways are on his property. Also try to find out if the Thompson Fork and Chaplains Fork are existing waterways of today. My 5th greatgrandfather's survey of the same time frame states Hanging Fork, and that waterway still exist in Lincoln County, today. Also, try looking at old Township maps of Lincoln Co, they could list the waterways. I do not know if they do. If possible, you might need to make a trip to the tax assessors office of Lincoln Co to find this property. Happy Hunting, Susan Hudgens

Hi Everyone, I am looking for connection to my African American Lackey and Logan families of Lincoln County. My great grandfather and his father are said to have been from Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, Kentucky. My 2nd great grandfather's name was Benjamin Lackey. He may have been White or Mulatto. He had a brother named Miller Lackey who lived in Pulaski County in 1880. My great grandfather's name was Millard Lackey, after his uncle. Millard was born 1873 in Crab Orchard. Don't know when his father, Benjamin, was born but Benjamin's brother Miller was born about 1851. Millard, my great grandfather, moved to Somerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky, married Mattie Belle Dodson, and they raised a family there in the late 1890s and early 1900s. The Logans of that same Lincoln County area were said to have been relatives to the Lackeys. The only Logan that I know of was Opheia Logan who was a nurse around this same time period in Lincoln and Pulaski counties. She married Wells Watkins, who was a popular African American Funeral Director in Somerset. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Henry Edwards and Mary Cross were married in Lincoln Co. KY on 13 Jan. 1796. Their children listed as born in Adair Co. KY but imagine the county lines changed and didn't precipitate a move on their part. Who were Henry's parents and siblings?? Was Mary a daughter of Israel Cross?? Both Edwards' and Cross' families moved to Morgan Co. IL between 1820 and 1825. Their first son David married in Adair Co. KY on 19 Dec. 1820 to Nancy Whitlock. Can anyone help me over this latest brick wall?? Many thanks. Carol
Thank you, Susan, for your information. I shall certainly look into it! Elizabeth
I would like to obtain a copy of "Lincoln County Pioneer Families" by Harry W. Mills. This may have been published in the Interior Journal of Stanford. I am trying to get some information about John Thurmond who had property in Lincoln County in 1785 and who died there in 1808. Does anyone have any records for this family? I am looking for a Malachii Ware who would have been in Logan/Lincoln Co between 1785 and 1810. Two of his daughters married sons of my Samuel Young and moved to Indiana territory, now southern IL sometime about 1812. Thanks J. Ray Young
