Good morning, everyone. Heres what I have on the McCleese/Stricklet families. I would welcome any corrections or additional information. Peter Stricklett, born ca. 1730, married ca. 1773, in Philadelphia to ???. He died before 1810 in Lewis County, Kentucky, and was buried after 1808 on Greenhow Branch, a tributary of Quicks Run, in Lewis County. He had at least three children: Mary, born ca. 1773 in Pennsylvania, married William Campbell, November 25, 1793. Jacob, born ca. 1778 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, married Margaret McCleese Cox, October 31, 1798, in Adams County, Ohio. He died after 1850 in lewis County. He was buried in the Old Burying Place in Lewis County which, as close as I can figure, is somewhere near the mouth of Martins Fork of Quicks Run. Amerlia, born July 7, 1792, married Thomas Ruggles, October 5, 1808, and died August 27, 1839 in Lewis County. ************************************************************************ Jacob Stricklett, son of Peter, above, moved from Pennsylvania to Kentucky as a young man. He served with General Andrew Lewis in the battle of Point Pleasant, Virginia, in October 1774, and served with General Anthony Waynes Legion of the United States at Fallen Timbers on August 20, 1794. In 1784 a line of forts was built on the Ohio River, and a blockhouse under the command of John G. McDowell was constructed near the mouth of Quick's Run. Jacob Stricklett was an occupant of this fort. Soon after, they settled at the mouth of Martin's Fork [Quicks Run] in Lewis County, Kentucky. Jacob married Margaret (Peggy) Cox, a widow whose husband [Obadiah Cox] and children had been killed by Indians near Brush Creek in Adams County, Ohio. Margaret MeCleese was the daughter of Daniel McCleese and Catharine McAllister [sometimes spelled McKlaster]. She was born about 1768 in Pennsylvania and died about 1850 in Lewis County. They had the following: Christina, born ca. 1800, Mason Co., Ky; married Samuel J. Riley, April 1, 1816, in Lewis County. I am descended from their daughter, Harriett, who married Lewis Plummer. Anna, born ca. 1802, Kentucky, married James Pell, June 9, 1825, died before 1887 in Lewis County. Jacob, Jr., born ca. 1804, married Frances Griffith, March 29, 1826, died 1842 in Lewis County. Lewis C., born 1809, married Elizabeth Ruggles. Peter, born, ca. 1812, married Elizabeth Ginn, December 5, 1831 Anna <[email protected]>
