Diane: Recently someone posted the story about all the marriages performed in Brown Co OH...apparently quite a business in the mid 1800s. Georgetown is quite a ways from the river but it is the county seat so some of the marriages are recorded there. However, many of the people were actually married in boats on the Ohio and never set foot on OH soil. My husband's great grandparents, Richard and Eliza Jane Smith McDaniel actually did go into Aberdeen, the town on the banks of the river. Your name Permelia caught my eye as one of the McDaniel lines from Montgomery Co KY uses that name.
