COOPER) ROBERT HOUGHMAN, 15, KY AMBROSE J., HOUGHMAN, 13 KY MELVINA HOUGHMAN 11 JACOB HOUGHMAN, 9, KY (m 8/28/66 to MARY E. POGUE) AARON HOUGHMAN, 7 KY BENJAMIN HOUGHMAN 5,KY (m 2/25/71 to LUCY ANN TRAYLOR) JAMES C. HOUGHMAN, 4 KY (m 9/23/77 to IDA ANTIS) Note: JACOB HUFFMAN B 11/30/39. D 7/17/1914. His wife d 12/21/1928. The l860 census Greenup shows: JOSEPH D. UNDERWOOD & MELVINA UNDERWOOD. JOSEPH was 20,, b KY and MELVINA was 22 b KY. I am sure this is MELVINA"s family in spite of the difference is spelling. I believe HOUGHMAN was pronounced HUFFMAN . My grandmothers sister married SAMUEL SHUFF....but early on I found that his family was listed as SHOUGH. Also found some descendants of this family (on another liine) spelled the name CHUCK. I think both spelliings anglicized the name to match the German pronunciatioin. I checked and just found a marriage record for SOLOMON HUFFMAN & BETSEY WARNOCK (d/o of SAMUEL. WARNOCK) 20 Jan l829, Greenup Co.
