Dear Researchers of the Lewis County, Kentucky Mailing List, I would like to learn the names of the steamboats which were docked at Vanceburg, Lewis County, Kentucky or upriver as far as Portsmouth, Ohio, between 1840 and 1861. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can gain this information? The one idea I have is to carefully read every page of Way's Packet Directory and also Lytle's List, looking for First Home Ports in the described section of the Ohio River.
