Hi Nancy in Nebraska - I am looking for info on a John David Smith born 06 Nov 1859 in or near Carrs, Lewis County, KY. He was orphaned and adopted, later moved to Minneapolis, KS where he married Ada Eliza Brown on 30 April 1887. They are my wife's maternal grandparents. Realizing that there are numerous Smiths in the world, why not KY? But the existence of the 15 Cemetery books sparked my interest. Are these available for purchase? Or if you can find time, would you look for any Smiths in the cemetery books who might fit the 1850s - 1870s time frame. It may be a hopeless task, since I don't know if his biological parents were named Smith or his adoptive parents. At any rate I would be most appreciative of any info related to my search of info on John David Smith. Do you know if there are records on adoptions in that time frame? My wife and I have talked about visiting Lewis County to do some searching. Do you have an address for the Lewis County Historical Society? Thanks for your help and suggestions.
