In Talley's Northeastern Kentucky Papers, pg. 175, there is a story about a John MATHEIS, 12 years old, from Cincinnati, OH who was visiting William SCHWARTZ, a friend of the family, of Lewis Co., KY. During his visit, John went out hunting with William PELL, evidently a neighbor of Schwartz. To make a long story short, John climbed a tree and ended up accidentally being shot by William Pell. The story appeared in the Portsmouth Times, Aug. 26, 1876. It says that William was about 20 years old. Any ideas on who this William PELL was? Is everyone familiar with the story? Thanks! Ronni
