This is a quote from the court order regarding a road to be built in 1796 (at that time, Mason Co., later part of Lewis Co.): "SOLOMON SHEPHERD, JOHN OHARROW, HENRY PARKER and GABRIEL PHILIPS or any three of them being first Sworn are appointed to review a way proposed for a Road from Maddux to Williamsburg as far as Rich Land Creek and make Report of the Conveniances and Inconveniances attending opening the same."
